that you stay up to date with all assignments, and prepare adequately for all tests. If you are
struggling please contact me as soon as possible. My goal is to see you succeed, and enjoy
this class. Good luck!

Expectations:

Be prepared, proactive, and proper. Working in a laboratory requires you to pay
close attention to what you are doing and to be aware of those around you. You will need
one composition book for this class, which will be provided only once. Please follow
directions and procedures at all times. If you fail to do so, you may be suspended from some,
or all laboratories. NEVER CONDUCT AN EXPERIMENT WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE
TEACHER.

Grading Policy:

     Tests (40%)
There will be a test approximately every other week. If you are absent on a test day, you will
be required to take the exam the day you return to class (after school), unless you have made
arrangements with the teacher prior to your absence. All missed exams will earn a zero.

     Final (10%)
There will be a cumulative final given at the end of the semester. Please review your old
exams on a weekly basis to prepare for this exam.

     Laboratory
 (20%)
Labs will adhere to the specific procedures outlined in class. Incomplete labs will not be
accepted. Late labs will be penalized, and they may only be turned in after school.

      Homework (10%)
Students who struggle with Biology rarely review their notes on a daily basis. Thus, homework
is a way to ensure that you are studying the material. Homework will consist of homework
packets distributed at the beginning of the week. Any incomplete classwork or labs are
considered homework. Late homework will be penalized and accepted after school only. If
you are absent you need to check my website for the assignment and have it ready the day it
is due. I will make an attempt to give you time in class to complete your homework. Use this
time productively and complete your homework.

      Classwork
 (20 %)
Classwork will consist of warm-ups, class projects, worksheets done in class, and participation
points. You will lose points for unexcused tardies and, or unexcused absences. In order to
help you prepare and focus for each class meeting, you will be copying notes, or solving a
problem for the first few minutes of class. This is an easy way to earn credit for participation,
and for attendance. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the warm-ups from a
classmate or my website. Your science notebook will be submitted every two weeks. Please
see me immediately if you did not receive a composition book.

Grade Scale
        A B C D F

 100-90 % 89-80 % 79-70 % 69-60% below 60 %
