Accommodation Ratings
To assist with the selection of your accommodation we have created our own rating system allowing you to compare each property. These are personal ratings
offered by our people from their own experience and should therefore be used as a guide only. These ratings may alter throughout the year due to a change of
circumstances.
Moderate accommodation with a reasonable range of rooms and facilities, with rooms furnished to a comfortable standard.
Superior standard of accommodation with a wide range of rooms and facilities, and a higher standard of service.
First Class accommodation with an excellent range of facilities and services. Accommodation in this rating is considered among the best in
the country.
A half star is noted when the level of service and facilities falls between two grades. Grading accommodation can be quite subjective and generally speaking the
standard and services will be in line with the price paid. Please check with your Travel consultant to ensure you get the accommodation to best suit your needs.
Child Policy: Please note bedding configuration varies between properties and in some cases with different room types within a property. Some hotels also offer
family bonuses and specials. Your Travel consultant will help you choose the hotel to best suits you and your family’s needs.
Price Indicator: The price is provided as a guide only. The actual price may differ to that indicated in this brochure due to currency fluctuations, special events,
trade shows or peak periods. Your travel consultant will quote you the actual price at the time of booking. Per person pricing is based in New Zealand dollars.
Look out for our “gems” of information scattered throughout our Singapore, Malaysia & Borneo brochure.

An oasis in Singapore, Gardens
by the Bay is where art meets
nature. Spanning 250 acres, great
sculptures and huge conservatories
entwine with fascinating flora. A
sanctuary of calm on Singapore’s
startling waterfront.
Orang utans. Everyone loves these
cheeky orange apes. Explore
Malaysia’s Sepilok Orang Utan
Rehab Centre and visit the last wild
orang utans of northern Borneo.
As curious as they are cute, the
forest and peaceful atmosphere
is beneficially relaxing for both
visitors and residents alike.
Borneo’s Mulu Caves deep in
Sarawak’s Gunung Mulu National
Park is the world’s largest cave
passage and a spectacle of both
size and beauty. Then there’s the
Cameron Highlands, Malaysia’s
largest hill-station, with tea
plantations and strawberry farms,
the terrain’s an eye-pleaser.
Husbands, boyfriends and credit
cards all shudder when they
hear the name, but Singapore’s
Orchard Road is where you’ll find
international big brands. Then
there’s Mustafa Centre, a massive 24
hour department store reminiscent
of the emporiums of old.
Malls, malls and more malls, you
must be in Kuala Lumpur! Eight
malls are found in the city centre
alone, while 20 minutes away, in the
greater Klang Valley area, there are
12 additional shopping complexes to
keep you occupied.
If you’re more of a market peruser,
Malaysia’s Gaya Street Fair (Kota
Kinabalu) is a Sunday must-do.
Based in the area of Kota Kinabalu
in Sabah, sellers are already trading
by 6am. It gets hotter and more
colourful as the hours tick by;
prepare yourself for a bustling hub
of street chatter and local culture.
Attention Foodies! Become one with
nature
Shopaholics
beware!
In Singapore, the cooler evenings
are the perfect time to sample
local fare. Drop by the roadside
vendors in Chinatown and head
for Smith, Temple, Mosque and
Pagoda Streets. Smith Street is
pedestrianised and an exciting ‘Eat
Street’. It’s also a great spot for
tasty duck, and the Singaporean
specialty, chilli cooked crab.
Trying a Singapore Sling is a rite
of passage for most travellers.
Originating in Raffles Hotel
Singapore over a century ago,
frequent the Long Bar on the hotel’s
second floor and sling back a Sling.
In Malaysia, Penang’s Hawker Street
is street food supremacy. From Char
Kuay Teow to Roti Chanai, each
chef showcases their own unique
flavours. The options are endless
and the ambience electric. Air
conditioning there is not, but you’re
guaranteed to find an authentic
(albeit balmy) street scene.

Malaysia & Borneo
Holiday

Interactive and innovative,
Malaysia’s Legoland has
life-size figurines, thrilling rides
and quirky Lego activities both
adults and children will be in make-
believe heaven.
Animal lovers revel at The River
Safari; a river-themed zoo and
aquarium in Singapore, complete
with resident pandas. Also in
Singapore, you’ll find Adventure
Cove WaterparkTM
. As well as
waterslides, highlights include an
enormous lazy river, snorkelling
with fish and a wave pool. And if
you’re in Malaysia, Sunway Lagoon
Theme Park also entertains the
thrill-seekers.
For heights, Langkawi Sky Bridge is
a 125 metre giant found in Malaysia.
An engineering wonder, you’ll feel
like you’re walking in the clouds.
Then there’s the Singapore Flyer, a
huge Ferris wheel with a stunning
city backdrop.
Nowhere more-so than Singapore
does culture from the west collide
quite spectacularly with the east.
A melting pot of Colonial British,
Chinese, Indian and Malay history.
Singapore does have a conservative
approach to alcohol, but it hasn’t
stopped expats from opening a
number of great bars. Leisurely
lunches at Clarke, Robinson, and
Boat Quays will mostly be a western
affair, whereas Tiong Bahru Market
offers a great mix of traditional
delicacies. Singapore’s eclectic
juxtaposition can be seen from the
architecture in the sky to the food
on your plate.
For a cultural experience that’s
100% authentic, enquire about
a homestay with Borneo locals.
You’ll get to stay with a traditional
family, observe their way of life and
partake in many of the activities
that make up their day to day.
In Singapore spend a day by the sea.
The island resort of Sentosa plays
host to the popular Tanjong Beach
Club; a luxury beach club fronting
the water. Boasting a huge pool,
bar and sun loungers so comfy
they’ll swallow you whole, the
venue’s suitable for families,
couples, groups et al. Alternatively,
ride the Bumboat along the
Singapore River; the skyline views
are simply spectacular.
Malaysia’s Langkawi Beaches are the
kind of sandy havens that make you
sigh. It’s near enough impossible to
resist the perennially blue sea and
platinum white sand.
If you’d rather be below the water,
the island of Sipadan is a diver’s
dream location. Warm, calm and
with excellent visibility, there’s
a smorgasbord of marine life,
including more turtles than grains
of sand (not quite but almost). The
allure of Sipadan is unavoidable.

Known as the ‘Gateway to Asia’, Singapore is a vibrant tropical destination, world
renowned for its shopping, eateries, attractions, style and cleanliness. Whether you
head there for two days or ten, you’ll find no trip to the ‘Lion City’ is ever the same.
Not many cities in Asia can boast Singapore’s fascinating ethnic mix. Throughout
history, migration has left its stamp on the city’s culture. Visit the bright sari and
bangle stores in the old shop houses of Little India, and in Chinatown explore the
many antique stores or bargain hunt for silk. For the shopaholics, Orchard Road is
a must; the variety and quality here will leave you spoilt for choice. Allow plenty of
time, as you’ll be lucky to see half of it in one day.
With the huge developments recently around the Marina Bay area; the iconic
Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer and Gardens by the Bay. Not to mention
Resorts World®
hosting Universal Studios Singapore®
, and S.E.A. AquariumTM
, it is
no wonder people keep going back to this city time and time again.
The river plays host to plenty of fabulous bars and restaurants in the three popular
quay areas; Clarke Quay being the most famous, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay.
Although Singapore has come a long way over the past 10 years and now showcases
itself as a modern international city, you can’t leave without heading to Raffles
Hotel for High Tea or a legendary Singapore Sling; an experience that carries with it
generations of colonial history and tradition.

Explore Bintan Island

From stunning beaches and islands with world class snorkelling and diving, to the
vast rainforest and national parks abundant with wildlife, mixed with the amazing
cuisine, great shopping and friendly people. Malaysia makes for a great holiday
destination no matter what your tastes are.
Comprising of three distinct parts, Peninsula Malaysia and the two island states
of Sabah and Sarawak in East Malaysia on the island of Borneo, are areas all well
developed, yet rich and varied in cultural tradition.
Kuala Lumpur is the focal point of Malaysia and the nation’s capital. The action here
lies in the city centre dubbed the ‘Golden Triangle’ – a madcap mix of modern hotels
and large shopping complexes complemented by traces of its British colonial past and
cultural beliefs.
The islands of Penang and Langkawi on the west coast of the peninsula are renowned
for their relaxed atmosphere and beautiful beaches. Penang, the food capital of
Malaysia, offers Batu Ferringhi Beach and the night bazaar in the evening along with
Georgetown, unmistakably Chinese with a colonial architectural influence. Langkawi,
an archipelago of islands, is blessed with many natural features, stunning waterfalls,
tropical jungles and pristine sandy beaches, not to mention its duty free status.
On the east coast of the peninsula, slightly lesser known islands of Tioman, Redang
and the Perhentian Islands also offer some fantastic island escapes. Renowned for
their white sandy beaches, crystal blue waters and abundant marine life, they are
fast becoming ‘must-dos’ for underwater enthusiasts, or those who just want to laze
around on an exotic tropical island.

Our favourite things to see and do
Petronas Twin Towers – Observe KL from the world’s
tallest twin towers; it takes all of 41 seconds to shoot up
to the midpoint of Petronas Twin Towers. Tickets to the
skybridge sell out fast, but how often do you get to feel on
top of the world?
Batu Caves – Located 13 kilometres north of Kuala
Lumpur. Featuring a complex of giant limestone caves
housing Hindu temples. Take a walk up the 272 steps to be
greeted by monkeys – be careful not to carry any food or
plastic bags with you.
Food – Due to the cultural mix throughout Kuala Lumpur,
you’ll find an array of cuisines. From sambals, curries
& Chinese dishes to Nyonya cusine, which is typically
Malaysian. Be sure to check out Changkit Bukit Bintang, a
popular boulevard with many restaurants and bars. Or for
a more local experience head to the Hawker Stalls in Jalan
Alor or Chinatown Petaling Street Night Markets.
Day trip to Malacca – Only two hours from KL, this
quaint relaxed town is rich with history and culture from the
ruling of the Portugese, Dutch & British. Take a stroll down
Jonker St for cute shops offering Nyonya fashion, shoes,
souvenirs as well as cafés & pubs.
Shopping – Most malls are open between 10am-10pm and
you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to variety. Pavillion
Mall is one of the newest malls, with over 450 retail shops,
spread across seven levels. Sungei Wang Plaza is great for
shoe lovers and KLCC is where you’ll find the likes of Zara,
Top Shop & Kookai.

Penang
Highlights worth seeing along the way
Penang Hawker Food – As Penang is the food capital of Malaysia, visit
Gurney Drive. It’s the best of Penang on a plate! Hawkers fire up their
woks and dish out street food for a king. The popular seafront promenade
exemplifies the colours and atmosphere of Penang – fun, lively and
vibrant.
Penang Hill – Take a short ride up the funicular or a 2-3 hour hike, where
you’ll be spoilt with a fantastic view of Georgetown and the Penang Bridge
at the summit. Visit at night time for the best views of Georgetown lit up.
Kek Lok Si Temple – The largest Buddhist Temple in Malaysia, located
hillside and dating back to the early 20th century. Reach the top by a
mini-funicular train where you’ll be greeted by a giant statue of Kuan Yin,
the Goddess of Mercy. Over Chinese New Year the temple is covered with
hundreds of lanterns which makes for an even more spectacular photo.
Shopping – On Gurney Drive you’ll find an array of hawker stalls to
choose from in the evening as well as Gurney Plaza, featuring a good
selection of international brands.
The Street of Harmony – A famous street featuring many different
places of worship including Masjid Kapitan Keling Mosque, Kuan Yin
and Sri Mahamariamman Temples, St George’s Church, Cathedral of
Assumption and Khoo Kongsi.

powered vehicles and hear the history of this island from a local, it’s like
your own private city tour. Make sure you negotiate the fare beforehand.

riding, jet ski, parasailing and catamaran sailing to name a few.
Explore Penang
This turtle shaped island is located 8 kilometres west of Mainland
Malaysia and accessible by road over two bridges, ferry or plane. Often
referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Orient’, Penang is well known for its easy
going kampungs (villages), sandy beaches, sightseeing and food.
Due to the diverse culture, foodies are spoilt for choice here, as each
culture with their unique cooking styles have dared to create dishes
that are a blend of tastes and spices. Famed throughout the country for
specialties such as Laksa and Nasi Kandar which are found everywhere
around the island. Venture out at night in search of a restaurant full of
Penang locals, because where there’s locals, there’s good food. For the
best Char Kway Teow (a popular noodle dish) take a walk along Lorong
Selamat in Georgetown.
One of the main attractions of Penang are the beaches. Batu Ferringhi
along the north of the island, is by far the best and most visited beach
area. With plenty of luxury hotels and restaurants, it’s a favourite with
both locals and visitors. For more secluded, unspoilt beaches head to the
north-western coast. Here you’ll find Monkey Beach, Muka Head, Pantai
Kerachut and Teluk Kampi which are all part of the Penang National
Park.
Georgetown is the second largest city in Malaysia and a favourite spot for
visitors. Featuring one of the largest collections of 19th and early 20th
century churches, temples, mosques and colonial buildings you can see
why it’s classed as a UNESCO World Heritage-site. Visit between June to
July for the Georgetown Festival and you’ll be treated to a month long
celebration featuring art, music, dance, opera and film.

Highlights worth seeing along the way
Kuala Lumpur Malls – One of KL’s highlights is the shopping. You’ll will
of course find all the world’s top fashion brands such as Prada, Gucci and
Dior here. But the local markets are where you really want to be. You’ll
find everything you could possibly want all sold under the same roof.
Beaches – Penang offers Batu Ferringhi Beach and Langkawi, an
archipelago of islands, is blessed with many pristine sandy beaches
Batu Ferringhi Night Bazaar – Stretching up to 1 kilometre with over
100 stalls. Featuring everything from clothes to homeware to handcrafted
items.
Langkawi Mangroves – The best way to see the UNESCO accredited
wilderness of Kilim Geoforest Park is by boat. The wildlife along the rivers
are not what you’d expect and if you’re lucky you’ll see the deaf and blind
Venomous Mangrove Viper sleeping in the trees.
Georgetown – A UNESCO World Heritage-site, with a fusion of eastern
and western influences. Featuring modern architecture as well as
embracing its colonial traditions, the well-preserved heritage buildings
are something not to be missed.

A perfect destination for those looking for an adventure, Borneo is home to some
of the world’s oldest rainforests and spectacular diving sites. Favourite pastimes here
include trekking through the jungle, bird watching and looking out for exotic wildlife.
Malaysian Borneo makes up the northern half of the island of Borneo, with the southern
region being part of Indonesia. Split into two Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak,
both offer unique experiences.
Sabah is the perfect place to start in this land of eco treasures. Untouched and unspoilt,
Sabah’s heart is Mt.Kinabalu, an impressive granite peak stretching 4,100 metres. Any
triptoSabahisnotcompletewithatleastawalkroundthebaseofthisfamousmountain.
Witness the ‘wild man of Borneo’ – the orang utan, at Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation
Centre, the largest sanctuary in the world or offshore head out to the Turtle Islands
where environmental projects are underway to help the ancient sea turtles.
The heart of Sarawak is its rainforests and the large rivers that feed in and out of it.
With a vast network of national parks, it is a great place to explore the jungle, cave
systems, wildlife and amazing flora and fauna found in these parts. It is also home to
many unique and fascinating tribal cultures, including the infamous headhunters.
There are numerous ethnic groups found throughout both states, the people are warm
and friendly and enjoy many colourful festivals and traditions that will take you back
centuries. If different culture fascinates you, engage in some customs with a stay in a
longhouse. Sip on ‘lihiing’, their potent rice wine, no doubt leaving you with lasting
memories or not! For those who prefer to laze the day away, there are many stunning
beach resorts that dot the coastline.

Our favourite things to see and do
The Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre –
Located in Sandakan, this rehabilitation centre was set up in
1964 to rehabilitate orphaned orang utan. Watch the orang
utan up close in their natural habitat. A boardwalk leads to a
viewing gallery and feeding platform where the orang utan
are fed milk and bananas twice a day. While rehabilitation
is the main goal here, the creation of the reserve also
minimises the impact of deforestation.
Sipadan – If you are a keen diver, this is the place to
go. Formed by living corals growing on top of an extinct
volcano, this area is now rated by many dive journalists as
one of the top diving destinations in the world. It is located
in the Celebes Sea off the east coast of Sabah.
Gaya Street Fair – Every Sunday in Kota Kinabalu, Gaya
Street is closed off to traffic so traders can set up their stalls.
Shop for anything, from batik sarongs, fruits and flowers,
arts and crafts, to footwear, antiques and souvenirs. If you
like coffee, pick up some local Tenom coffee.
Mulu Caves – This spectacular cave system, deep in
Sarawak’s Gunung Mulu National Park near Miri, has over
200 kilometres of cave passages. Over millennia the flow
of water has cut deep gorges through the Park’s limestone
mountains and within the rock itself, creating a network of
vast caves. The main underground attractions of the Mulu
Caves include Clearwater Cave, the longest cave in South
East Asia, and Deer Cave.
Selingan Island – On the east coast of Sabah, stay
overnight at the lodge so you can see turtles come ashore to
lay eggs 365 nights of the year. It is one of the most important
turtle breeding spots in South East Asia.

Kota Kinabalu
Sabah’s main city is Kota Kinabalu. Razed to the
ground by the British and occupying Japanese,
the city was effectively rebuilt in the late 1940s.
Many of Sabah’s main attractions are within an
easy day trip from the city, making it ideal for
exploring. The city itself is based on the coast,
overlooking a cluster of islands in the South
China Sea. To the other side it is backdropped
by the towering Crocker Mountain Range with
Mt. Kinabalu in the far distance.
Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort
An undoubtedly special resort just 45 minutes from the airport.
Featuring their own orang utan education centre and canopy walk along
with a stunning 3 kilometre beach with fantastic water sports, there
is fun for the whole family. Or if you want a quiet escape, there’s lots
of space to get away from it all. A fabulous choice of restaurants and a
beach bar offer popular western cuisines, as well as Malaysian and Asian
favourites.
Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort
Just 10 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport the resort is
set in 25 acres of award-winning gardens along the sweeping bay, with a
private beach overlooking the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman National
Park. The contemporary rooms have been recently renovated to provide
modern luxury and are situated in two separate wings overlooking the
mountain or stunning South China Sea.
Rungus Longhouse & Tip of Borneo
2 Days/1 Night
Mt Kinabalu and Poring Rainforest
Experience the simple things in life with a Rungus Native. Stay in a
Rungus Longhouse overnight and learn about their fascinating lifestyle
by joining in on their daily rituals and enjoying their local food. On day
two proceed to the northern tip of Borneo, where the South China Sea
meets the Sulu Sea and the inhabitants have retained much of their
traditional way of life.
Visit the World Heritage-site, Kinabalu Park – a natural wonder that
offers a glimpse into the fascinating and often unique world of flora
within the park. The jagged granite peaks of Mt. Kinabalu tower above
one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world.

Kuching

Kuching. Built on several low hills Kuching is
quite a green city. Its principal attractions lie

and the waterfront promenade. Of note is the
Sarawak Museum, renowned for its displays of
tribal culture in the region. Take time to stroll
along the promenade and enjoy the sights
and flavours of the city before heading out to
explore Sarawak further.

waterfront with a stay at this hotel. Ideally positioned and overlooking
Sarawak River, spacious guest rooms and suites offer either city views or
river views. Catch up with family and friends back home with the use of

this 5-star hotel offers stunning views of the city and Sarawak River.
Modern and contemporary guest rooms await you with floor to ceiling
windows and feature futuristic technologies. Choose from a number
of trendy restaurants and bars to dine at after a day out or opt for a
spot of pampering at the high end spa. This hotel will not leave you
disappointed.
Sarawak Cultural Village Rainforest and Bidayuh Longhouse
In this authentic re-creation of a traditional village, discover how the
tribal groups live and work in Borneo. This real life museum portrays the
heritage of major ethnic groups found in Sarawak. Browse around the
village then enjoy a cultural performance.
Established to care for orphaned animals, visit Semenggoh Reserve. Be
amazed by the antics of the orang utans as they emerge from the jungle
canopy. Further inland, visit a Bidayuh Longhouse, home to the Bidayuh
ethnic group.

4. INFORMATION IN THIS BROCHURE
4.1 While we attempt to ensure that the contents of this brochure are
correct, accurate, and up to date at the time of printing, the contents of this
brochure are drawn from information supplied to us by Suppliers. We do
not have, and cannot be reasonably expected to have, personal knowledge
about all of the facilities or services provided by each Supplier.
4.2 Facilities or services may change after the date of printing. We
endeavour to keep travel agents informed of any changes to information in
this brochure which are brought to our attention. Prior to completing your
booking, you should ask your travel agent whether they are aware of any
changes to the published information. You should also make sure that if
your travel agent is advised of changes which occur after booking, your
travel agent is able to contact you.
4.3 Maps and Photographs: Maps are shown for general information and
may not necessarily reflect actual routings, locations or services provided.
Photographs may show places in the geographic area which are not
included in your booking. Hotel room photographs may not be the actual
room occupied.
4.4 Property Information: Descriptions featured in this brochure are
drawn from information provided by our Suppliers.Any facilities or services
shown are subject to change at any time. Please advise your travel agent
if you have any special requirements.
4.5 Room Bedding: Prices in this brochure are based on existing bedding
in the room. Requests for specific bedding arrangements must be made
at the time of booking but can not be guaranteed. For example, twin share
may consist of single beds or a shared double bed.
4.6 Rental Cars: We cannot guarantee to provide a particular model or
colour within the car category. Availability of car categories is subject to
confirmation at the time of booking. We reserve the right to substitute
different models. If a vehicle is returned prior to the end of the reserved
rental period or if the vehicle is picked up later than the reserved date, NO
REFUND will be made for unused rental days
5. PRICES
5.1 The price indicator is provided as a guide only.It is based on low season,
per adult share twin pricing and is correct at the time of printing. The actual
price may differ to that indicated due to currency fluctuations, special events,
trade shows or peak periods. Price indicators for hotels are per person per
night for share twin in a standard room (except for villas if specified).
5.2 We will guarantee the price of the portion of the booking as
processed by us, against currency fluctuation for a period of seven (7) days
from the time of confirmation of the booking; note: special conditions apply
for cruise bookings. It is the responsibility of your travel agent to advise you
of the date of confirmation. If your booking remains unpaid after the seven
(7) day guarantee period it will be subject to currency fluctuation, up to the
time full payment is received by us.
5.3 Events beyond our control, such as changes to the prices of aviation
fuel or changes to the cost of services or facilities may result in the prices
charged to you being different from those shown in the brochure. You
should check all prices with your travel agent before making reservations,
and before ticketing.
5.4 Prices may also be liable to variation between the time of booking
and the date of departure due to events beyond our control. Due to
unforeseen events we reserve the right to vary the price up to the time of
your departure.
6. HOUSE OF TRAVEL ACCOMMODATION RATINGS
To assist you with the selection of your accommodation, we have created
our own rating system allowing you to compare each property. Please
note that these gradings are to be used as a guide only and may alter
throughout the year due to a change of circumstances. Please check with
your House of Travel consultant to ensure you get the property that best
suits your needs.
7. PAYMENT
7.1 A non-refundable deposit will be required by your travel agent and
must be paid at the time of booking. This is in addition to any deposits
imposed by Suppliers.
7.2 A communication charge may be made for bookings requested less
than 72 hours prior to departure.
7.3 Final payment must be made in full before we can release travel
documents (including tickets).
8. CANCELLATION
8.1 If you wish to cancel your booking for any reason, you must advise us
in writing through your travel agent as soon as possible.
8.2 If you cancel your booking or any part of your booking, we will
impose a cancellation fee in respect of each person travelling under that
booking. You must also pay all cancellation fees imposed by Suppliers and
your travel agent. These cancellation fees are required to offset booking,
communication, and administrative charges which have already been
incurred by us, Suppliers and your travel agent. Cancellation fees imposed
by Suppliers and travel agents are beyond our control and you should
check with your travel agent regarding what cancellation fees may be
applicable.
8.3 We strongly recommend that you insure yourself fully against
cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. See Section 10.
9. RESERVATION AMENDMENTS
We are happy to incorporate any reasonable amendments you request. An
amendment constitutes a change to an existing booking and will attract a
$25 fee per amendment prior to final payment and the issuing of the travel
documents, and a $50 fee per amendment after travel documents have
been issued. These fees are to cover administration and communication
costs. You may also be required to pay any Supplier imposed fees.
10. INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that you insure yourself fully against cancellation,
loss of luggage and personal property, and medical expenses. Your travel
agent will be able to provide you with further information.

insurance, sightseeing, transfers, local taxes, airport departure taxes,

we have carried out our service with reasonable skill and care and to your
requirements) and you may not be entitled to a refund from any Supplier.
14. HEALTH OR DISABILITY
Some Suppliers may reserve the right to refuse to carry or accommodate
people who because of a health condition or disability may require services
or facilities to be provided in a special manner. You should check this with
your travel agent.
15. SERVICE SATISFACTION
During your holiday, if you encounter any situation where the service
supplied to you does not meet your satisfaction, please take the matter
up with the Supplier immediately.Your contract for each service is with the
Supplier. If this is not possible immediately, or if you are still dissatisfied,
please contact your travel agent. Both we and your travel agent will
endeavour to investigate on your behalf and to negotiate with the Supplier
to resolve the matter as soon as possible, so that you continue to enjoy
your journey.
16. LEGAL CLAIMS
Any claims or legal action in connection with the provision of our services
to you will be governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any claim or legal
action against the Suppliers is likely to be subject to the terms of your
contract with them, and may be governed by the laws of other countries.

but they helped us come back feeling richer.”

  • 6. 2 An oasis in Singapore, Gardens by the Bay is where art meets nature. Spanning 250 acres, great sculptures and huge conservatories entwine with fascinating flora. A sanctuary of calm on Singapore’s startling waterfront. Orang utans. Everyone loves these cheeky orange apes. Explore Malaysia’s Sepilok Orang Utan Rehab Centre and visit the last wild orang utans of northern Borneo. As curious as they are cute, the forest and peaceful atmosphere is beneficially relaxing for both visitors and residents alike. Borneo’s Mulu Caves deep in Sarawak’s Gunung Mulu National Park is the world’s largest cave passage and a spectacle of both size and beauty. Then there’s the Cameron Highlands, Malaysia’s largest hill-station, with tea plantations and strawberry farms, the terrain’s an eye-pleaser. Husbands, boyfriends and credit cards all shudder when they hear the name, but Singapore’s Orchard Road is where you’ll find international big brands. Then there’s Mustafa Centre, a massive 24 hour department store reminiscent of the emporiums of old. Malls, malls and more malls, you must be in Kuala Lumpur! Eight malls are found in the city centre alone, while 20 minutes away, in the greater Klang Valley area, there are 12 additional shopping complexes to keep you occupied. If you’re more of a market peruser, Malaysia’s Gaya Street Fair (Kota Kinabalu) is a Sunday must-do. Based in the area of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, sellers are already trading by 6am. It gets hotter and more colourful as the hours tick by; prepare yourself for a bustling hub of street chatter and local culture. Attention Foodies! Become one with nature Shopaholics beware! In Singapore, the cooler evenings are the perfect time to sample local fare. Drop by the roadside vendors in Chinatown and head for Smith, Temple, Mosque and Pagoda Streets. Smith Street is pedestrianised and an exciting ‘Eat Street’. It’s also a great spot for tasty duck, and the Singaporean specialty, chilli cooked crab. Trying a Singapore Sling is a rite of passage for most travellers. Originating in Raffles Hotel Singapore over a century ago, frequent the Long Bar on the hotel’s second floor and sling back a Sling. In Malaysia, Penang’s Hawker Street is street food supremacy. From Char Kuay Teow to Roti Chanai, each chef showcases their own unique flavours. The options are endless and the ambience electric. Air conditioning there is not, but you’re guaranteed to find an authentic (albeit balmy) street scene. 6 TIPSfor your Singapore, Malaysia & Borneo Holiday
  • 7. 3 Interactive and innovative, Malaysia’s Legoland has life-size figurines, thrilling rides and quirky Lego activities both adults and children will be in make- believe heaven. Animal lovers revel at The River Safari; a river-themed zoo and aquarium in Singapore, complete with resident pandas. Also in Singapore, you’ll find Adventure Cove WaterparkTM . As well as waterslides, highlights include an enormous lazy river, snorkelling with fish and a wave pool. And if you’re in Malaysia, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park also entertains the thrill-seekers. For heights, Langkawi Sky Bridge is a 125 metre giant found in Malaysia. An engineering wonder, you’ll feel like you’re walking in the clouds. Then there’s the Singapore Flyer, a huge Ferris wheel with a stunning city backdrop. Nowhere more-so than Singapore does culture from the west collide quite spectacularly with the east. A melting pot of Colonial British, Chinese, Indian and Malay history. Singapore does have a conservative approach to alcohol, but it hasn’t stopped expats from opening a number of great bars. Leisurely lunches at Clarke, Robinson, and Boat Quays will mostly be a western affair, whereas Tiong Bahru Market offers a great mix of traditional delicacies. Singapore’s eclectic juxtaposition can be seen from the architecture in the sky to the food on your plate. For a cultural experience that’s 100% authentic, enquire about a homestay with Borneo locals. You’ll get to stay with a traditional family, observe their way of life and partake in many of the activities that make up their day to day. In Singapore spend a day by the sea. The island resort of Sentosa plays host to the popular Tanjong Beach Club; a luxury beach club fronting the water. Boasting a huge pool, bar and sun loungers so comfy they’ll swallow you whole, the venue’s suitable for families, couples, groups et al. Alternatively, ride the Bumboat along the Singapore River; the skyline views are simply spectacular. Malaysia’s Langkawi Beaches are the kind of sandy havens that make you sigh. It’s near enough impossible to resist the perennially blue sea and platinum white sand. If you’d rather be below the water, the island of Sipadan is a diver’s dream location. Warm, calm and with excellent visibility, there’s a smorgasbord of marine life, including more turtles than grains of sand (not quite but almost). The allure of Sipadan is unavoidable. • 8. 4 Known as the ‘Gateway to Asia’, Singapore is a vibrant tropical destination, world renowned for its shopping, eateries, attractions, style and cleanliness. Whether you head there for two days or ten, you’ll find no trip to the ‘Lion City’ is ever the same. Not many cities in Asia can boast Singapore’s fascinating ethnic mix. Throughout history, migration has left its stamp on the city’s culture. Visit the bright sari and bangle stores in the old shop houses of Little India, and in Chinatown explore the many antique stores or bargain hunt for silk. For the shopaholics, Orchard Road is a must; the variety and quality here will leave you spoilt for choice. Allow plenty of time, as you’ll be lucky to see half of it in one day. With the huge developments recently around the Marina Bay area; the iconic Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer and Gardens by the Bay. Not to mention Resorts World® hosting Universal Studios Singapore® , and S.E.A. AquariumTM , it is no wonder people keep going back to this city time and time again. The river plays host to plenty of fabulous bars and restaurants in the three popular quay areas; Clarke Quay being the most famous, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay. Although Singapore has come a long way over the past 10 years and now showcases itself as a modern international city, you can’t leave without heading to Raffles Hotel for High Tea or a legendary Singapore Sling; an experience that carries with it generations of colonial history and tradition. • 16. 12 From stunning beaches and islands with world class snorkelling and diving, to the vast rainforest and national parks abundant with wildlife, mixed with the amazing cuisine, great shopping and friendly people. Malaysia makes for a great holiday destination no matter what your tastes are. Comprising of three distinct parts, Peninsula Malaysia and the two island states of Sabah and Sarawak in East Malaysia on the island of Borneo, are areas all well developed, yet rich and varied in cultural tradition. Kuala Lumpur is the focal point of Malaysia and the nation’s capital. The action here lies in the city centre dubbed the ‘Golden Triangle’ – a madcap mix of modern hotels and large shopping complexes complemented by traces of its British colonial past and cultural beliefs. The islands of Penang and Langkawi on the west coast of the peninsula are renowned for their relaxed atmosphere and beautiful beaches. Penang, the food capital of Malaysia, offers Batu Ferringhi Beach and the night bazaar in the evening along with Georgetown, unmistakably Chinese with a colonial architectural influence. Langkawi, an archipelago of islands, is blessed with many natural features, stunning waterfalls, tropical jungles and pristine sandy beaches, not to mention its duty free status. On the east coast of the peninsula, slightly lesser known islands of Tioman, Redang and the Perhentian Islands also offer some fantastic island escapes. Renowned for their white sandy beaches, crystal blue waters and abundant marine life, they are fast becoming ‘must-dos’ for underwater enthusiasts, or those who just want to laze around on an exotic tropical island.
