Business in Action Witness Fortune 500 companies such as Wal-mart, GE, Goldman Sachs and Toyota in their strategic consideration of environmental and social issues. 10 of the US leading corporations, including General Electric and DuPont, endorsed the idea of limits on carbon emissions to 15% below their 1990 levels by 2010. The Green Power Market development Group formed by GM, DuPont and IBM plans to develop markets for  1000 megawatts of renewable energy.
Government in Action California has approved the Kyoto Protocol and signed a new law stating the reduction of CO2 in 2020 to reach the same level of 1990 (equivalent to 25% reduction). Then California will follows by 80% reduction in 2050.  Local Government measures such as San Francisco’s 2001 Solar revenue Bond will generate $ 100M for the installation of solar,wind, energy efficient technologies on city buildings. Hoping to generate 10Mw within the first 5 years.
Research in Action MIT:  One group of engineers at MIT decided to focus its work on the nanostructure of concrete, the world's most widely used material. The result can reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the world's cement manufacturing by 10 percent.   Novomer,  a new company created from Cornell university in New York has developed a ‘green plastic’ by mixing orange skins with CO2.
