Sustainability Program
GOAL: To educate our community about the use of our natural
resources and undertake actions to reduce our ecological
footprint.
ACTIVITIES:
1. Certification as a Green School (Programa Escuela Verde)
    SEP / SEMARNAT (on-going)
2. Sustainability committees in each division, want to join?
3. FIVE areas:
   –   Environmental objectives within curricula
   –   Solid waste management (RRR)
   –   Efficient water use
   –   Efficient energy use (Electricity and gas)
   –   Community involvement
Environmental Education in US
               curricula
• If you teach objectives/activities related to:
• Air, water, soil, diversity, conservation, animals, plant
  s, ecology, acid rain, climate change, global
  warming, use the roof garden, etc.
• Please answer survey in your mail later in the year.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Goal: Teach and model we are a green school in every classroom.
Process:
1.    Brainstorm ways to REDUCE
      paper, plastic, water, electricity.(become a paperless classroom)
2.    Brainstorms ways to REUSE materials:
      papers, cardboard, water, PET bottles, tetra pak, etc.
3.    Obtain 4 containers (boxes, bottles, bags) for RECYCLING:
      paper, PET, tetra pak, cans/shinny wrappers
4.   Teach students to clean containers, bundle paper, crush cans.
5.    Each week during homeroom ask a groups of students to take your
      items already separated and cleaned to the RECYCLING CENTER on
      2nd floor by the elevator. Mondays 1 st floor, Tue – 2nd floor, Wed –
      3rd floor.
6.    FIRST DAY presentation during homeroom. You will get a short ppt
      .
