Survey results
To better understand my audience and what want to see I conducted a
survey to gather qualitative and quantities data
This question was important because it allowed me to
narrow down my target audience and see where the
majority is. In the brief, the target audience was defined as
16-25, but after conducting research into my audience I
can now narrow down my target audience to 17-21, with
50% of the audience being 18.
Demographics
I wanted to clarify what percentage of my audience
was male and what percentage was female. The
results I got have shown that there is an equal
amount of male and female viewers. This means that
there is no particular gender I will have to cater to as
they are an equal amount of each.
To better define the demographics of my
audience I wanted to see where in the social
grade chart I can put my viewers. 16.7% of
my audience work, meaning they are in
grade D. 83.3% of my audience do not work,
which places them in category E.
Psychographics
I wanted to get an idea of what my audience actually knows about the subject area.
66.7% of my audience said they know nothing about the North East skate scene and
33.3% said they only know a little bit about it. This means that all of my audience is not
entirely knowledgeable about the subject area which makes me confident that my
documentary will serve an important service in educating and informing my audience
and making them more aware of the subject area.
I wanted to make sure my audience actually want to see my documentary and would are
interested in learning about North East skating. 83.4% of my audience said they would be
interested in learning more about my subject area. This gives me extra confidence that
people would want to see the documentary and that it is worth my time making. I gave
an option for the audience to tell me specifically what they would like to see in my
documentary. People wanted to know popular places in the North East where people go
to skate and also what the community is like in general. This gives me useful pointers on
how to make a documentary people would want to watch
I wanted to get a general idea of how my audience thinks of skating, just so I know how
if I have to include anything that people may be misinformed about. I can see that
some people do not know enough to form a proper opinion, giving me confidence my
documentary will be well received by people who don’t know much about skating and
wants to learn more.
