The Surangama troupe, led by Dr. Pushpa Prasad and her daughters Sumisha, Nimisha, and Piyusha Shankar, performs a stylized version of folk dancing and singing called "Nautanki". Dr. Prasad is a highly trained and awarded artist who directs the troupe. Sumisha Shankar is an ex-army captain and trained classical dancer who explores her roots through her mother's folk repertoire. The troupe has performed internationally in places like the Netherlands, the Caribbean, and across India at various festivals and events.
