Superlatives are used with adjectives to indicate that someone or something has the highest degree of a quality. For short adjectives, "the est" is added to form the superlative, while for long adjectives "the most" is added. Examples are given of using superlatives like "the shortest", "the thinnest", "the most beautiful", and "the most expensive" to describe people and things in the highest, most extreme sense.
