“The Sunshine Approach improves on traditional “fair trade” in that it
creates incentives for quality all along the value chain, and lowers
costs. It is a brilliant concept that combines “heart” with “head,”
based on deep knowledge of how commodity trading and markets
work, together with a deep commitment to reducing the suffering of
the world´s most needy. Perhaps most importantly, it has the
potential to transform how commodities are purchased from the
poor, significantly reversing the terms of trade to the benefit of
smallholder farming families and their communities worldwide.”

11. A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER
The Sunshine approach model is founded on the basis that companies can
have profound positive impact on people’s lives. While at The Hershey
Company, I was inspired by the company’s commitment to caring for
orphans. Milton Hershey opened a school for orphaned boys in 1909 and
upon his passing in 1945 left his fortune to the school. The school has
transitioned many children into a successful life, including my father-in-law
who graduated 1955.
It is our objective to demonstrate a model that will successfully transform
poor farming communities in a way that provides fairness, opportunity, and
empowerment from within. We strive to bring people together around a
vision that truly transforms communities.
The success of our company and the impact we create is all thanks to you!
We appreciate the support of our fans and for believing that providing hope
has never tasted so good!
