The people of the Sundarbans region in India have suffered greatly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Cyclone Amphan. The cyclone devastated homes and crops, killed many people, and destroyed over 100,000 hectares of farmland. The organization is working to provide relief to affected communities by distributing food, supplies, and rebuilding materials. Donations are requested to support relief efforts and long-term livelihood training programs for impacted farmers and fisherfolk.

2. The People of the Sunderbans are being dealt one blow a�ter another. A�ter a two-month lockdown
period due to the COVID19 pandemic, Cyclone Amphan has pushed back the any hope of limping
back to normalcy. The cyclone has devasted 10 lakh homes and shops, loss of lives, trees uprooted,
roads cracked open. Many of embankments on the islands have breached, bringing in salt water
and destroying 1,09,577 hectares of cultivable land and crop; impacting 4,43,144 farmers. Nearly
3900sq km of the Sunderbans area has been damaged.
The Paschim Radhanagar Sundarban Jana Sramajibi Manch is a community organization working
with fisherfolk and forest dependent people across the Sundarbans. We are working together with
the Sundarban Parjatan Pariseba Samabay Samity Ltd (Sundarbans Tourism Service Cooperative
Society Ltd) to provide necessary relief to the people of Kumirmari, Chotta-Mullakhali, Shamsher
Nagar Islands.
