El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo compartir la experiencia de una
práctica formativa orientada al desarrollo de habilidades para aprender a aprender, el caso
de la Facultad de Ciencias Humanas.
En respuesta a los retos que la realidad actual ha impuesto a la Educación
Superior, la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California desde hace más de una década, ha
incursionado en la aplicación de programas de formación y desarrollo para proporcionar al
personal académico, (profesorado), herramientas teórico-metodológicas que le permiten
promover en el alumno habilidades de razonamiento y de autoaprendizaje; de esta
manera en el marco del acto educativo del contexto universitario, hemos atendido al
desarrollo de habilidades de pensamiento, la formación valoral y el meta-aprendizaje, con fundamento en los enfoques que sustentan el desarrollo de la inteligencia como
alternativa para la mejora de habilidades académicas tomando como marco de referencia
el paradigma constructivista.
En la UABC, se han emprendido desde hace diecisiete años, acciones a nivel de
propuestas institucionales y/o individuales, con el propósito de estimular el desarrollo
intelectual de los estudiantes universitarios; y los profesores de la Facultad de Ciencias
Humanas han participado esencialmente en tales iniciativas. A partir del año 2000, hemos
logrado sistematizar, dar seguimiento, evaluar y consolidar dichos empeños, garantizando
su mayor efectividad a través de un modelo específico.
El resultado ha sido la propuesta de un Modelo integral para la detección y
estimulación permanente de habilidades de aprendizaje, 1 en el cual se involucra al
profesorado como actor fundamental para la generación de procesos de aprendizaje
innovadores. Dicha propuesta impacta a nivel de planes y programas de estudio, alumnos
y profesores, desde una perspectiva holista que permite abordar distintas dimensiones del
proceso formativo privilegiando el desarrollo de habilidades para aprender a aprender, en
los estudiantes universitarios en el contexto de una formación basada en competencias

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
