Sudan has 142 languages spoken within its borders, 133 currently spoken and 9 extinct. Arabic and English are the official languages, while Juba Arabic serves as the lingua franca in Southern Sudan. Islam is practiced by 70% of Sudanese, with 25% following indigenous or animist beliefs and 5% practicing Christianity. Sudan has a presidential republic government and is located in Northeast Africa, bordering Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Chad, and the Central African Republic. Oil is Sudan's main export.
