WELCOME BACK CLASSES OF:
2017: Freshmen
2016: Sophomores
2015: Juniors

2014: SENIORS
Absences:
1. 11 UN-EXCUSED ABSENCES = NO COURSE CREDIT
2. Must bring a doctor's note for absence to be excused: see 2013-2014 RCS Student Handbook for
guidelines
3. 1-4 Tardies = Warning/call home 5-8 Tardies = 1 period of ISS 9-12 Tardies = 1 DAY ISS
13-14 Tardies = 1 day OSS 15+ Tardies = Failure to comply/3 OSS

Dress Code:
1. Clothing must be age appropriate, not distract from the learning process & can't be provocative, revealing, indecent, or vulgar.
2. No head gear.
3. No spaghetti straps or tank tops are allowed.
4. No rips or tears above the knee.
5. Sleepwear is prohibited

Spring Testing:
1. All JUNIORS must take the ACT (March 2014) *required by NC
2. All subjects have MSL (Measure of Student Learning) *required by NC
3. 3 subjects count for school accountability (English II, Alg. I, and Biology)
4. ALL Seniors must take the Workkeys test (February 2014) *required by NC

Late Work Policy
Late Work Policy (students present in class but chose not to complete the work)
• Full credit if submitted by due date
• One day late 85 will be the maximum grade
• Two days late 77 will be the maximum grade
• Three days late 70 will be the maximum grade
• After three days you will be given a 0 for the assignment
Examples:
1. If you turn in an assignment 2 days late and only make a 50 on the assignment then that will be
the grade recorded.
2. If you turn in an assignment 3 days late and make a 95 on it then you will receive a 70 because it
is three days late.
3. If point system is used by your teacher then the points deducted would equal the average for
each day. (Example: 20 point value one day late=maximum grade would be a 17)
Make up work: First day back at school after any absences then must contact the teacher to determine
due dates for makeup work in person or through email. (during class, lunch, before or after school)
Chromebooks:
1. Insurance: new policy: Please see the policy: can pay the 1st initial insurance of $25 anytime
you want to.
2. Take care of them!!!!
4. DO NOT leave your Chromebook unattended
5. If you have a laptop sleeve, ONLY put the Chromebook in the sleeve. Do not put the adapter
or the earbuds in the sleeve. Chromebook screens are very sensitive.
6. Close it then move it
7. If you break 3 Chromebooks, you automatically will become a day user.

Cyberbullying:
1. Nearly 43% of students have been bullied online. One in four has had it happen more than
once
2. One in three teens has experienced Cyberbullying
3. Nine out of ten students have had their feelings hurt online
4. About 75% have visited a website bashing another student (Facebook, Twitter etc.)
5. Four out of ten students have had their passwords stolen and changed by a bully who then
locked them out of their own account or sent communications posing as them.
6. The psychological and emotional outcomes of Cyberbullying are similar to real life bullying
outcomes, except for the reality that with Cyberbullying there is often no escape. School ends at
3:02 pm while the internet is available all the time.

NC General Statue:
(a)

The following definitions apply in this section:

1. Electronic communication. – Any transfer of signs, signals, writing, images, Sounds, data, or
intelligence of any nature, transmitted in whole or in part by a wire , radio, computer, electromagnetic, photoelectric, or photo-optical system.
2. Electronic mail.- The transmission of information or communication by the use of the Internet,
a computer, a facsimile machine, a pager, a cellular telephone, a video recorder, or other electronic means sent to a person identified by a unique address or address number and received by that
person.
b. It is unlawful for a person to:
(1) Use in electronic mail or electronic communication any words or language threatening to inflict bodily harm to any person or to that person’s child, sibling, spouse, or dependant, or physical injury to the property of any person, or for the purpose of extorting money or other things of
value from any person.
(2) Electronically mail or electronically communicate to another repeatedly, whether or not conversation ensues, for the purpose of abusing, annoying, threatening, terrifying, harassing, or
embarrassing any person.
(3) Electronically mail electronically communicate to another and to knowingly make any false
statement concerning death injury, illness, disfigurement, indecent conduct, or criminal conduct
of the person electronically mailed or of any member of the person’s family or household with
the intent to abuse, annoy, threaten, terrify, harass, or embarrass.
(4) Knowingly permit an electronic communication device under the person’s control to be used
for any purpose prohibited by this section.
1. Any offense under this section committed by the use of electronic mail or electronic communication may be deemed to have been committed where the electronic mail or electronic communication was originally sent, originally received in this State, or first viewed by any person in this
State
(d) Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor.
(e) This section does not apply to any peaceable, nonviolent, or nonthreatening activity intended
to express political views or to provide lawful information to others. This section shall not be construed to impair any constitutionally protected activity, including speech, protest, or assembly.

  • 1. WELCOME BACK CLASSES OF: 2017: Freshmen 2016: Sophomores 2015: Juniors 2014: SENIORS
  • 2. Absences: 1. 11 UN-EXCUSED ABSENCES = NO COURSE CREDIT 2. Must bring a doctor's note for absence to be excused: see 2013-2014 RCS Student Handbook for guidelines 3. 1-4 Tardies = Warning/call home 5-8 Tardies = 1 period of ISS 9-12 Tardies = 1 DAY ISS 13-14 Tardies = 1 day OSS 15+ Tardies = Failure to comply/3 OSS Dress Code: 1. Clothing must be age appropriate, not distract from the learning process & can't be provocative, revealing, indecent, or vulgar. 2. No head gear. 3. No spaghetti straps or tank tops are allowed. 4. No rips or tears above the knee. 5. Sleepwear is prohibited Spring Testing: 1. All JUNIORS must take the ACT (March 2014) *required by NC 2. All subjects have MSL (Measure of Student Learning) *required by NC 3. 3 subjects count for school accountability (English II, Alg. I, and Biology) 4. ALL Seniors must take the Workkeys test (February 2014) *required by NC Late Work Policy Late Work Policy (students present in class but chose not to complete the work) • Full credit if submitted by due date • One day late 85 will be the maximum grade • Two days late 77 will be the maximum grade • Three days late 70 will be the maximum grade • After three days you will be given a 0 for the assignment Examples: 1. If you turn in an assignment 2 days late and only make a 50 on the assignment then that will be the grade recorded. 2. If you turn in an assignment 3 days late and make a 95 on it then you will receive a 70 because it is three days late. 3. If point system is used by your teacher then the points deducted would equal the average for each day. (Example: 20 point value one day late=maximum grade would be a 17) Make up work: First day back at school after any absences then must contact the teacher to determine due dates for makeup work in person or through email. (during class, lunch, before or after school)
  • 3. Chromebooks: 1. Insurance: new policy: Please see the policy: can pay the 1st initial insurance of $25 anytime you want to. 2. Take care of them!!!! 4. DO NOT leave your Chromebook unattended 5. If you have a laptop sleeve, ONLY put the Chromebook in the sleeve. Do not put the adapter or the earbuds in the sleeve. Chromebook screens are very sensitive. 6. Close it then move it 7. If you break 3 Chromebooks, you automatically will become a day user. Cyberbullying: 1. Nearly 43% of students have been bullied online. One in four has had it happen more than once 2. One in three teens has experienced Cyberbullying 3. Nine out of ten students have had their feelings hurt online 4. About 75% have visited a website bashing another student (Facebook, Twitter etc.) 5. Four out of ten students have had their passwords stolen and changed by a bully who then locked them out of their own account or sent communications posing as them. 6. The psychological and emotional outcomes of Cyberbullying are similar to real life bullying outcomes, except for the reality that with Cyberbullying there is often no escape.   • 4. NC General Statue: (a) The following definitions apply in this section: 1. Electronic communication. – Any transfer of signs, signals, writing, images, Sounds, data, or intelligence of any nature, transmitted in whole or in part by a wire , radio, computer, electromagnetic, photoelectric, or photo-optical system. 2. Electronic mail.- The transmission of information or communication by the use of the Internet, a computer, a facsimile machine, a pager, a cellular telephone, a video recorder, or other electronic means sent to a person identified by a unique address or address number and received by that person. b. It is unlawful for a person to: (1) Use in electronic mail or electronic communication any words or language threatening to inflict bodily harm to any person or to that person’s child, sibling, spouse, or dependant, or physical injury to the property of any person, or for the purpose of extorting money or other things of value from any person. (2) Electronically mail or electronically communicate to another repeatedly, whether or not conversation ensues, for the purpose of abusing, annoying, threatening, terrifying, harassing, or embarrassing any person. (3) Electronically mail electronically communicate to another and to knowingly make any false statement concerning death injury, illness, disfigurement, indecent conduct, or criminal conduct of the person electronically mailed or of any member of the person’s family or household with the intent to abuse, annoy, threaten, terrify, harass, or embarrass. (4) Knowingly permit an electronic communication device under the person’s control to be used for any purpose prohibited by this section. 1. Any offense under this section committed by the use of electronic mail or electronic communication may be deemed to have been committed where the electronic mail or electronic communication was originally sent, originally received in this State, or first viewed by any person in this State (d) Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. (e) This section does not apply to any peaceable, nonviolent, or nonthreatening activity intended to express political views or to provide lawful information to others. This section shall not be construed to impair any constitutionally protected activity, including speech, protest, or assembly.
