Strategic Intervention
Materials
(SIMs):Improving
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
Objectives
1. be equipped with the knowledge and skills to design and implement
Strategic Intervention Materials (SIMs).
2. enhance their instructional delivery and improving learners’ learning
outcomes in the different subject areas.
3. integrate SIMs into existing curriculum frameworks to address
learning gaps and other learners’ needs.
s
SIMs are instructional tools to address specific
learning gaps and strengthen pupils’
understanding on the different competencies
or skills.
These materials are used in remedial and
enrichment teaching, to provide focused
support to learners who need assistance or
challenge beyond the standard curriculum. It
also improves learners' engagement and
achievement
s
SIMs are designed to focus on specific learning
deficiencies identified through assessments. By
zeroing in on these areas, they provide targeted
support to students who are struggling with particular
concepts
SIMs serve as effective tools for remedial teaching,
helping students who may have fallen behind catch
up with their peers. This ensures that no student is
left behind and everyone has the opportunity to
achieve their academic potential
s
Through the use of SIMs, learners not only gain a
deeper understanding of specific concepts but also
develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
These skills are essential for their overall academic
and personal growth.
SIMs provide teachers with structured resources and
clear guidelines on how to address learning gaps.
This support can enhance a teacher's ability to deliver
effective instruction and foster a more positive
learning environment.

Guide Card
• It gives an overview of the lesson
• Stimulates interest in the topic
• Mentions the concrete outcome or
product students are expected to
demonstrate/ produce.
back
Activity Card
• Defines the task that the learners should
undertake in order to develop a skill
• The task is competency oriented and
maybe an individual or group work
• The purpose of the task is to provide
enough practice for the learner so that
he/she can perform the skill automatically
back
Assessment Card
• help the learner measure his/her level of
mastery of the skill upon completion of the
task
• The result of the assessment identifies the
knowledge/skills that the learner may
need to enhance or develop further
back
Enrichment Card
• extends learning by providing additional
exercises for further application of
knowledge
• It provides opportunity to apply learned
concept in a new context.
back
Reference Card
• provides additional content to the
coverage in the textbook
• list of resources that the learner may refer
