John and his family immigrated to a colony in 1822 to start a new life. The journey was long and difficult, with some passengers lost overboard due to harsh waves. Upon arrival, their first winter was harsh as well, with five of their cattle dying of disease. John worked to establish a farm, selling cattle and growing crops. By 1824 his colony was thriving, though he had to kill some of his remaining cattle to meet demand for beef while his family picked cotton. John was overall pleased with his new home and life in San Felipe.

 My name is John. Me and my family came to the
colony to start a new live. My wife and my two kids
and I. We went to get some land. The trip was long

 My arrival was hard and dangerous. The waves were.
 Hitting against the ship. Some of the people on
board got tossed off the ship.

 It was a harsh winter for us. It was decease we had
cattle. Five cattle died. What can we do?

 It was night fall. People on board could not sleep.
The people who were driving the ship where up.

 Days at sea. I went to go check on the cattle.

 We were cot in a storm. We were able to escape.
With 2o cattle on a live boat. We got to where we
will sell cattle.

7. 1824
 The investments for a 100 acre land. And I used it for
 Farmland. Razing cattle. And growing crops.
Growing trees.

8. 1824
 Colony thrived. Bumper cotton crops for my farm.
My family and I had to sell cattle pick up cotton.
People demanded for beef. So we had to kill our
cattle.

9. 1824
 I killed five cattle. So I can make beef. My wife and
kid picket cotton. And my wife spoon the cotton.
 And I went to sell the beef and cotton.

 San Felipe was the land I lived in. It was nice and
peaceful. No Indian attacks. Land is rich. Good for
living in.

 It wasn’t successful because people demanded
more. We will stay here because
 The land is rich. For crops and razing cattle. We
decided to come were to start a new beginning this
has been good.
