The document discusses how asking for things works when you are a child but not as an adult. As adults, we need to look at what we can provide rather than just what we want. The easiest way to get what you want is to ask others what they want and listen to them rather than just talking about yourself. When you focus on others' desires instead of your own, it opens more opportunities and energizes people to want to help you.
10. On the other hand, there are plenty of
books, strategies, political beliefs, and
even religions that promise simply
asking is all we need do.
11. This begs the question, if ALL of us
ONLY ask, then who's doing the giving?
12. What if all the guys and gals who ran
the electricity and water plants
decided they didn't need to go to
work, and all they needed to do was
sit home and "ask"?
13. What if the people around the world
that grew the food we all depend on
every day decided that they just
needed to sit home and "ask" instead
of going to work every day?
14. I know, these are tough questions we
don't like asking.
15. We LOVE the idea of getting
something for nothing.
27. On the other hand, when you have
enough faith in people in general, that
just by talking to them in a certain way,
you can get a LOT more than you think
you can.
28. When you start ASKING other people
what they want, instead of
overwhelming them with your desires,
something pretty amazing will happen.
