This document discusses user experience issues with partial binocular overlap (PBO) in augmented and mixed reality. It first reviews problems with PBO like binocular rivalry and luning effects that can cause fatigue. It then discusses how to measure how bad these issues are using metrics like task performance, visual fatigue, and cognitive load. The document presents results from an experiment showing that field of view significantly affects task performance more than binocular overlap size. Finally, it discusses finding optimal parameter tradeoffs and potential solutions like peripheral cues, dynamic scene adjustments, and nose dividers to alleviate PBO problem areas.
