The STEP-UP program provides a 10-week summer research internship for under-represented college students, including a $4,500 stipend and travel expenses to present findings at an NIH symposium. Eligible students must be US citizens or legal residents studying a STEM field with a 3.0 GPA or higher who come from under-represented racial, ethnic groups, have a disability, or disadvantaged background. The internship experience involves biomedical research in diabetes, digestive, or kidney disease areas.
