8. Monocot stems/ Dicot stems
• Monocot stems have most of their vascular
bundles near the outside edge of the stem.
The bundles are surrounded by large
parenchyma in the cortex region. There is no
pith region in monocots. Dicot stems have
bundles in a ring surrounding parenchyma
cells in a pith region.

10. In botany, secondary growth is the growth that results
from cell division in the cambia or lateral meristems
and that causes the stems and roots to thicken, while
primary growth is growth that occurs as a result of cell
division at the tips of stems and roots, causing them to
elongate, and gives rise to primary tissue.
