There are eight states that have successfully detonated nuclear weapons. Five states - the United States, Russia, United Kingdom, France, and China - are recognized as nuclear weapon states under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Three other states - India, Pakistan, and North Korea - have also developed nuclear weapons but are not parties to the NPT. The US has the largest nuclear arsenal of all countries with over 2150 active warheads.
