St. Francis Xavier was a 16th century missionary born in Spain who helped spread Catholicism throughout Asia. He studied at the University of Paris and joined the Society of Jesus. St. Francis traveled extensively, visiting countries such as France, India, Japan, Malaysia, Goa, and Sri Lanka. During his missionary work, he is said to have performed many miracles, such as raising 10 people from the dead. St. Francis died in 1552 while attempting to travel to China from Japan.
