The solar installation was made possible with a twenty-year, $150,800 Property Assessed Clean Energy loan from Energize NY with a 3.83% interest rate supported by Westchester County’s Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds (QECBS). With the Energize NY financing, St. Christopher’s was able to offset 100% of its electricity usage and repair the Church’s original, 50+ year old roof structure and is expected to save $3600 annually. 3. When Father
Oonnoonny
arrived at the
helm, the
church was
spending over
$1700 a month
on electricity
for their
buildings.

4. Parish council
members
suggested
looking into
solar.
Upon inspection
it was discovered
that the aging
roof would need
to be replaced in
order to support
a solar PV
system.

5. With the help of a local
solar installer and
Energize NY, the church
received a low cost, long-
term “PACE” loan to pay
for the solar system and
new roof. The church also
benefitted from state and
local incentives.

6. Financing isn’t always easy for a
nonprofit to secure. Energize NY
(PACE) Finance was developed to
make it easy and affordable for all
kinds of commercial and
nonprofit buildings in NY to
access capital for clean energy
building improvements.
