تدور الرواية حول حادثة كسر زهرية حيث تتهم الأم الخادمة بفعل ذلك، لكن يُظهر مصطفى في النهاية أنه هو من كسر الزهرية أثناء محاولة الحصول على حلوى. يعتذر مصطفى لفاطمة ويعترف بخطأه، بينما تدعم الخادمة ادعاءها بأن الزهرية كانت مكسورة مسبقاً. تنتهي المحادثة بتأكيد الأم على صدق مصطفى وسعادتها بذلك.

2. ما هذا الصوت ؟ ماذا كسرت يا فاطمة : الام الزهرية يا سيدتىي . دخلت الغرفة الاستقبال : الخادمة لإمسحها، و عندما لمست الزهرية و قعت Mother: What’s that sound? What did you break O Fatimah! Servant: It is the flower vase O madam! When I came inside the room to clean , I touched this and the vase fell to the floor.

3. الأم : إذن . انت كسرتها الخادم : والله ما كسرتها . كانت الزهرية مكسورة من قبل . لمستها فقت ، فوجدتها نصفين . Mother: So. You broke it. Server : By God! Who broke it. When I touched it, I found them in half.

4. الأم : هذا كلام لا يصدقة العقل الخادمة : هذا و الله ما حدث الأم : أنت تكذبين . سثدفعين ثمن الزهرية . هذه ليست اول مرة تكسرين فيها شئا تكسرين Mother: This conversation is unbelievable. Servant: By God! This happened really. Mother: You’re lying! This is not the first time when nothing broke. It is the eighth time

5. مُصطفى : يا أمي .. أنا ! أنا الذي كسرت الزهرية . الأم : أنت ! ؟و لماذا سكت طول هذا الوقت؟ مُصطفى : كنت خائفا الأم : و كيف كسرت الزهرية؟ Mustafa: "O my mother .. I am! I was the one who broke the vase. Mother: You are!? and why are you saying now? Mustafa: I was scared Mother: What about the broken vase?

6. مصطفى : دخلت غرفة الاستقبال لاخزبعد الحلوى ، فصدمت المنضدة ، فسقطت الزهرية وانكسرت نصفين الام : ثم لصقت النصفين كأن الزهرية سليمة مصطفى : نعم ، هذا ما حدث Mustafa: When I went to the reception room to eat candy, I smashed the table unknowingly and the vase fell off. Mother: Then you must paste the two halves so that the vase is fixed Mustafa: Yes, I tried it

7. الام : والآن . اعتذر لفاطمة مصطفى : أنا آسف يا فاطمة . أنا الذي كسرت الزهرية . الخادمة : كانت الزهرية مكسورة من قبل يا سيدتي ! الام : أنت صادقة . و انا سعيدة لان مصطفى صادق . Mother: Now. I apologize Fatima Mustafa: I'm sorry, Fatima. I was the one who broke the vase. Maid: The vase is broken by Madam! Mother: You're honest.
