Internally Funded Research
 Tourists’ Preferences for “Smart Hotels” in Crete
 The proposal’s research objectives are set twofold. On the one hand, the objective is to
evaluate consumers’/tourists’ preferences for innovative actions and products in
the hospitality sector (focusing on “smart hotels). On the other hand, the research
proposal aims to make a valid contribution to the research field through the
development of a holistic framework to evaluate individual consumer
preferences in the hospitality sector.
 The proposed research programme intends to utilise the discrete choice
methodology to examine individual preferences. This is because a) the
methodology can identify possible sources of heterogeneity among the population (and
thus, depict in a more realistic way their preferences) and b) translate
consumers’/tourists’ preferences into monetary equivalent (measured in Euros).
