Alexis Akrithakis was a Greek artist born in 1939 who was considered one of the most important artists in Greece. He had an unconventional style using bright colors, geometric shapes, and recurring symbols like suitcases. Akrithakis often used unconventional materials in his work and moved between Greece and Berlin throughout his career. He helped establish modernism in Greek art and created a unique visual mythology through his imaginative works before passing away in 1994.
Giannis Gaitis was a Greek artist born in 1923 in Athens who died in 1984. He was a multifaceted creator working in many mediums including painting, carving, sculpture, props, costumes, textiles, constructions, drawings, and furniture. He studied at the School of Fine Arts from 1942 to 1948 where he was taught by the modern 20th century artist Constantine Parthenis.
