IDEA 2009: Fiber Optics for High Def “Game Day” Sports Productionjimhurwitz
Fiber optics provide a lightweight and flexible solution for high definition sports production. A single fiber optic cable can transmit multiple video, audio, and data signals over long distances with virtually unlimited bandwidth. Camera-mounted fiber optic systems allow all necessary camera signals to be transmitted using just one or two fiber conductors, eliminating the need for multiple copper cables. Many professional sports stadiums and arenas have implemented fiber optic networks for broadcasting games.
The document discusses developing an integrated decision support system to evaluate options for managing biomass from agriculture to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance energy and nutrient cycling in northern Thailand. The system would use material flow analysis to track essential substances, geographic information systems to spatially analyze accumulation, and cost-benefit analysis to evaluate tradeoffs of alternative biomass management scenarios. The goal is to assist stakeholders in systematically evaluating scenario effectiveness.
