What Does a Workforce Board Really DO anyway? The South Central Workforce Development Board presents its August 2019 Community Impact Report recapping activities and outreach for our 10-county region of Kentucky.
William Zubkoff is one of the very few individuals solely involved in active groundwork and practices in order to help people get appropriate healthcare.
Enhanced Lifestyles has continued to strengthen its unique position as a member-governed disability services organisation in 2020-21. We made significant structural developments to improve our quality, compliance, and sustainability.

Economic development is intended to make a place better for the people and businesses that are there and more attractive to those that might come. It can represent a wide variety of activities ranging from targeted industrial recruitment to K-12 education reform. However, many of the old approaches to economic development leave the community without any real sense of control, agency, or power. This plan for Bertie county, N.C. is different. The plan’s long term vision, findings, goals, and recommendations are all designed by and created for community members and leaders.
Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas (WSNCT) has made significant progress toward our vision to be the recognized leader in building tomorrow's workforce.
I developed an integrated marketing communications plan for This Valley Works - a program of Total Action for Progress in Roanoke, VA. This campaign was the final project for the completion of the West Virginia University
Integrated Marketing Communications masters degree program.

6. MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
AN OVR SUCCESS STORY
R. Hernandez (a client with significant visual impairments) began
working at Firehouse Subs on January 29, 2019. By March of 2019,
he had been awarded Employee of the Month and had
established a work ethic so strong that, without hesitation,
Firehouse management took on a second individual with visual
impairments who continues to work alongside Mr. Hernandez at
the restaurant to this day.
This entire process began when Mr. Hernandez's OVR counselor
made a referral to Career Catering, a CRP owned and operated
by Sue Hines. Sue began meeting with the client in early 2019,
and by January’s end had secured a position with Firehouse Subs
contingent upon the client’s interview and his performance during
the first two weeks of his employment.
Once he had started working at the restaurant, his counselor
made a referral to OVR Assistive Technology Specialist, Karen
Perry. After evaluating the workplace environment, Karen
identified several rehab technologies that would greatly assist the
consumer in his duties. These items included a talking scale that
helped him weigh meats and a timer for baking bread and
cookies that made a loud buzz when baking was complete.
Christopher Bratcher
Kentucky Career Center Office for Vocational Rehabilitation
With all of these services in place, OVR has been able
to help the client achieve his full potential in the
competitive workplace environment. This individual
serves as a reminder that with the right guidance and
counseling, individuals can rely on the services
provided by OVR to help them achieve their goals.
In addition to AT
and Job
Placement
services, OVR
provided
consultation via a
local benefits
expert with regard
to the individual’s
SSI to ensure that
he was earning to
his full potential in
relation to the
limits placed on
his income by the
Social Security
Administration.

8. BlueCotton has been fortunate to partner with
Career Team/Kentucky Career Center on the WIOA
Work Experience Program and OJT. Ivy applied
with us directly and we worked with Career Team
to qualify her for WEX in order to have access to
additional resources to assist in her job training
and skill development. Upon completion of that
program we hired her full time and she is still a
member of our team.
Scott was someone we met through one of the
Kentucky Career Center job fairs. While he had
skills from previous work history he was facing
challenges and the OJT program was a perfect
match for BlueCotton to get him in the doors to
begin training him in a new career. He is a valued
member of our team and the support we’ve
received from this program is wonderful!

9. CORVETTES & CAREERS
"VETTE VISION" is the name given to a series of events/efforts to promote South Central Kentucky region to Fort
Campbell soldiers who are about to exit from the military.
These efforts include both visits to Fort Campbell by business, community and education leaders and hosting Fort
Campbell staff for guided regional tours.
“I cannot thank the South Central Workforce Development Board
enough for the field trip opportunity to the region for Fort
Campbell’s transition programs staff! I learned so much about the
employment and lifestyle opportunities up here.”
Kari Moore,
Program Director for USO Nashville/Fort Campbell
“We met with the wonderful folks, county officials and business
leaders of South Central Kentucky. We also [learned] that there are
over 6000 employment opportunities for transitioning service
members, veterans and families.
Kentucky is a wonderful place to live and work, great school and
community and the list goes on and on.”
Cory Wingfield,
Fort Campbell Soldier for Life
