I have done some research into the potential sounds that could be used to enhance the thrill our film
trailer. My main source was YouTube where I was able to explore a range of sounds that will be used
to accompany the studio ident and the scenes of the trailer. My main intention for the use of these
sounds is that it should be able to appeal to all audiences in capturing their attention but also making
sure it is fit for purpose and blends well with the concept of the film (and is used when appropriate).
During my research I was able to find and instrumental piece of music that could possibly work well
for the first half (the equilibrium part) of the film where ‘The Piano’ is playing as it comes across
quite childlike and cheerful to show that things are all good at the start of the film before something
goes wrong.
I also considered the use of the ‘Cinematic moods’ soundtrack from 0:32s to 0:47s for the scenes of
equilibrium however the duration of this sound only lasts for 15s and does have a tendency to sound
as though it is best suited to a sci-fi film trailer. The FMJ soundtrack works really well with the design
of the studio identification of Exposure, from 0:10 to 0:22 because it demonstrates a contrast in
sound in the levels of pitches. The daunting lower sounds convey that something is hidden enclosed,
as the higher pitched sounds reach its peak this disclosure correlates with the concept of the studio
ident and the idea of the film itself, that something is being brought out from the dark (untold
secrets ).
I researched the use of whispering voices and I wasn't satisfied with the kind that I found so instead I
have decided to create the songs of the voices myself with the voice of the leading actress Scarlett to
create a sense of realism. I found that childlike nursery jingles were quite often searched on the
internet by other groups so i decided to record my own childlike themed song from one of my hold
house object.
