This is the first edition of our monthly Solar News Capture from India and Around the Globe, that affect India.
This News Series will be Weekly Series and a monthly series compiled together.
The objective of this white paper is to provide inputs and intelligence for the manufacturing activities in India for the solar PV ecosystem – for both crystalline and thin film technologies while addressing the question of which technology is most suitable under Indian conditions from a regulatory, financial and technical perspective. The topics discussed spans the entire value chain which includes
c-Si Value Chain
Polysilicon
Wafer
Cells
Modules
Thin Film Technologies
a-Si
CdTe
CIGS/CIS
detailed technological comparison of the available module technologies i.e. c-Si and Thin Film has been undertaken along with a comparative analysis of the financials that goes into the manufacturing of modules using either technology.
In addition to the traditional manufacturing options in the value chain, the paper provides critical insight into other, lesser treaded avenues such as raw material manufacturing, machineries and equipment manufacture and other non-core solar products such as glasses, solar grade cables etc. The report is rounded off with an insightful analysis of the policy regime existent in terms of what has been done and what needs to be done to nurture the development of a complete solar PV ecosystem
- See more at: http://www.eai.in/ref/wp/analysis-of-manufacturing-opportunities-in-the-solar-pv-value-chain.html
The presentations aims to explain the outlook for Solar PV for 2017.
The key trend is the falling demand from China which would lead to an overcapacity in the module manufacturing space eventually leading to a lower pricing power.
India needs to grow its power generation 5x to 5,000 TWh a year in the next 20 years in order to develop. Where will this enormous amount of power come from? There are only two realistic options: a "coal-heavy" and a "solar-heavy" scenario. This presentation looks at these options and shows how solar could become the solar market opportunity of lifetime.

PES Wind Magazine - Ingeteam Wind Energy on India's clean energy industryIngeteam Wind Energy
In February 2015, the Indian government announced its plans to almost quadruple its renewable power capacity to 175 GW by 2022 as part of the plan to supply electricity to every household in the country. This includes 60 GW from wind energy. Further, India made a commitment at COP21 to raise the share of non-fossil-fuel power capacity in the country’s power mix to 40% by 2030.
Consequently, these plans and targets make the Indian market a unique fast moving and growing market where competitive companies can have great business opportunities. But, they also come with a complex and unstable legal framework where manufacturers find many obstacles on the way.
This module shows India is how suitable for solar power. It tells you about the government support for solar, investment opportunities and growth drivers for solar in India.
IN THE WORLD OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS, the market of India is a basket of fruits. With a national population of 1.2 billion, and more than 400 cities with populations over 100,000, India has become a bottomless well of opportunities for businesses. The country’s outstanding economic growth, with annual GDP growing at an average of 6% over the last decade, has encouraged knowledge driven foreign companies such as Vestas to seize the opportunity of increasing revenues by extending operations to India.

Solar Power 2020: India On A National Solar MissionHIMADRI BANERJI
India can now make 700 megawatts of photovoltaic modules each year, according to the plan. The aim would be to make 20,000 megawatts of solar cells annually by 2017 and to establish expertise in solar thermal technologies.
Total costs would be 85,000 and 105,000 crores ($18.5 billion to $22.8 billion) over a 30-year period. To help finance the project, the plan foresees a significant tax on gasoline and diesel — fuels the government currently subsidizes.

Solar PV module panels comprise the solar list of a PV system which generates as well as supplies solar energy in residential and commercial applications. Modules are rated by DC output energy under standard examine conditions as well as usually ranges from 110 - 365 watts.
India’s sustained growth has placed enormous demand on the country’s natural resources. Today, India imports substantial quantities of gas, oil and coal in order to meet its growing energy demand. The increasing dependence on imported fuels creates a serious threat to the energy security of the country. In addition, the country’s 254 GW of power generation capacity based on conventional sources has further strained the natural resources and degrading the environment. India solar capacity forecast for 2020 raised by 240%.
