Soil pollution occurs when soil is contaminated by substances like acid rain, fertilizers, pesticides, and metals from sources such as industrial waste, domestic waste, agriculture, volcanoes, mining, and natural disasters. Agricultural practices that heavily use pesticides and chemical fertilizers can lead to infertile land, soil erosion, and pollution. Volcanic eruptions and mining activities introduce metallic oxides, sulphates, tarry liquids, and solid wastes that cover large areas of soil. Natural disasters disrupt the soil environment and introduce harmful pollutants.
