Search Engines
•A search engine is a software system that is designed to carry out web searches (Internet searches), which means to search the
World Wide Web in a systematic way for particular information.

results pages (SERPs).
•The information may be a mix of links to web pages, images, videos, infographics, articles, research papers, and other types of
files.
•Example of search engines: Google, yahoo, Microsoft bing, duckduckgo etc..
World Wide Web (WWW)
•The World Wide Web (WWW), commonly known as the Web, is an information system where documents and other web

hypertext, and are accessible over the Internet.
•The resources of the Web are transferred via the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)
•The resources of www may be accessed by users by a software application called a web browser
•The www resources are made available by software application called a web server.
