This document proposes a solution to help hearing and speech impaired individuals communicate with others. It notes that about 15% of the world's population has some disability. The proposed solution is a gesture recognition device that would intake gestures and output text, allowing hearing and speech impaired people to communicate through gestures that are translated to text. This would help overcome communication barriers and allow those with disabilities to have greater opportunities. The device would work by capturing and interpreting human gestures and matching them to commands in a predetermined gesture library.

3. PROBLEM STATEMENT
 We have always had this constant conflict between equality-inequality when
it comes to discrimination amongst the human race.
 Discriminating people on the basis of their cast, creed, religion or colour is
unjust, but in this list pertaining to the weaker sections of the society , we’ve
always neglected one section i.e. physically challenged
 About 15% of the world population has some sort of disability. As of 2014,
360 million people worldwide has moderate to profound hearing loss.
Current production of hearing aids meets only 10% of the global need.
 People with disabilities are more likely to be unemployed. One of the major
setbacks of the hearing impaired or speech impaired person is
Communication.
 Over time there have been developments in the sign languages that help
them interact with people of their kind but they get side-lined when it
comes to bigger opportunities just because of one barrier i.e. language
Hence, we decided to provide a medium that is universal and easy to
decipher for the general crowd.

4. It was when we saw a bunch of speech impaired people enjoying a joke and
having a hearty laugh in the bus which was propagated via sign their language,
that we realised how different their world is from ours!
And that’s when we decided to come up with something that will help the less
abled and highly talented people contribute to the progress and betterment of
our country.
Don’t they deserve to taste the luxuries of the growing technologies. Just
because one part of their body was composed differently does that mean we
should deprive them of all their rights?

5. YOUR SOLUTION
 The solution to the problem of this communication barrier between
hearing or the speech impaired and the common man is by making a
gesture recognition device
 The device will intake gestures and give out output in terms of text

6. TECHNOLOGY
 To solve the issue of communication between the hearing impaired and
a common man as well as between speech impaired and common man
we have come up with the idea of gesture recognition.
 In simpler terms, we give gesture to text output.
 The idea is setup on capturing and interpreting human gestures.
 The device will have a memory containing a library which consists of a
stack of human gestures.
 The designed software identifies meaningful gestures from the
predetermined gesture library where each gesture is matched to a
command.

7. UNIQUE SELLING POINT
 Less than 10 percent of the global need is met through hearing aid
production. About 1 out of 40 people needing hearing aids have them in
developing countries.
 In 2025, it is estimated that 900 million people throughout the world
will be hearing impaired.
 It is estimated that out of the 600 million hearing impaired throughout
the world, 400 million live in developing countries.

800,000 people who are hearing-impaired.
• Approximately 4,000 new cases of sudden deafness occur each
year in the United States.

• There may be more than 700 million people with hearing loss
worldwide 2015
• In the next 100 years, hearing impairment is projected to rise to
