As Clojure programmers, our software is full of trees. Both the values we manipulate and the code we manipulate them with, are made from trees. It's all to easy to get caught up in a project and miss the forest for the trees, but how often have you missed the trees for the forest? This presentation is an exploration of trees from a unique perspective that will hopefully inform your thinking and lead your program design out of the woods.

I’ll tell you how they work, why they are the best thing since higher-order functions, and how to use them right. You’ll love it!
Most developers will be familiar with lex, flex, yacc, bison, ANTLR, and other tools to generate parsers for use inside their own code. Erlang, the concurrent functional programming language, has its own pair, leex and yecc, for accomplishing most complicated text-processing tasks. This talk is about how the seemingly simple prospect of parsing text turned into a new parser toolkit for Erlang, and why functional programming makes parsing fun and awesome.
In this talk I introduced Functional Reactive Programming and ELM and finished off with a live demo building a complete game of snake in Elm.

Generative testing is great for testing pure functions, but it is also used to test the behavior of stateful systems that change over time. Those systems are often designed for highly concurrent usage, such as queues, databases, and storage. And then sometimes your code is also asynchronous, such as in JavaScript. Learn several patterns to find inconsistencies across platforms, race conditions, and corner cases. This talk assumes basic understanding of generative testing.
