José de Jesús Garcia-Cuellar is a bilingual counselor and licensed master social worker who helps clients daily through his work at a nonprofit in Austin. He earned his master's degree in clinical social work from Texas State University in 2014. Garcia-Cuellar particularly enjoys helping young clients using trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. He finds the work extremely rewarding, such as helping a 13-year-old boy who wanted to commit suicide due to bullying. Garcia-Cuellar's passion for helping others and his ability to relate to clients through sharing their Hispanic background and experiences with hardship help him make a positive impact.
