Holoptica provides authentication and verification of documents and products through a combination of advanced chemistry and digital technologies. They originate and produce synthetic DNA strands that are encapsulated and applied invisibly to documents as unique markers. Readers connected to mobile devices via Bluetooth can scan these DNA SmartMarks and verify authentication details on the device screen in under 10 seconds. This technology can be applied to security documents, product packaging, and other items to prevent counterfeiting. Over 130 customers worldwide have implemented Holoptica's solution on over 150 million protected items with no reported counterfeiting attempts.
This document provides an overview of Gantt charts, including their history, evolution, and uses. Gantt charts are a type of bar chart used to display a project schedule and track progress over time. They show the tasks or activities within the project arranged on the vertical axis and time intervals on the horizontal axis, allowing project managers to visualize the timeline and dependencies between tasks. The document discusses the basic components of a Gantt chart, including variants that show milestones, resources, status, and dependencies. Examples are also provided of different Gantt chart types like daily, stoplight, summary, and earned value charts.
This document discusses consumer health apps and mHealth. It begins by defining mHealth as the practice of medicine supported by mobile devices like phones and PDAs. It then discusses various types of fitness, wellness and healthcare apps. The document predicts that the number of consumer health apps will explode and discusses popular categories like weight loss, diabetes and gluten free apps. It also discusses desirable app characteristics, challenges, and resources for mHealth professionals.

It also proposes using QR codes for a scavenger hunt by organizing smartphone users into groups, providing instruction handouts, setting a time limit, and having the groups scan codes.
This document discusses using social media and mobile technologies in foodservice and dietary settings. It outlines how social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter can be used to communicate with customers, market services, and get feedback. The document also discusses using tablets in foodservice for tasks like taking orders, accessing recipes and training videos, and improving efficiencies. Polls are included to gauge webinar participants' current social media and mobile technology use.
The document provides information about flow charts and how to create them. It discusses the basic components of a flow chart, including symbols and shapes used to represent different elements. It also addresses how much detail should be included in a flow chart, noting they should include all relevant participants and resources, and be at an appropriate level of detail for the intended users and purposes. Sample flow charts are presented to demonstrate how they can visually represent a process from start to finish in a clear, step-by-step manner.
This document discusses the use of social media and mobile technologies in healthcare. It outlines how registered dietitians can use social platforms like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn to share nutrition information with patients. It also describes how hospitals are increasingly adopting social media and how tablets are being used in foodservice settings and by patients to improve health outcomes. Mobile health apps provide benefits like helping patients manage their health, enabling care coordination, and allowing for remote monitoring.

The typical problem in product engineering is not bad strategy, so much as “no strategy”. This leads to confusion, lack of motivation, and incoherent action. The next time you look for a strategy and find an empty space, instead of waiting for it to be filled, I will show you how to fill it in yourself. If you’re wrong, it forces a correction. If you’re right, it helps create focus. I’ll share how I’ve approached this in the past, both what works and lessons for what didn’t work so well.

Bram Verhoef, Head of Machine Learning at Axelera AI, presents the “How Axelera AI Uses Digital Compute-in-memory to Deliver Fast and Energy-efficient Computer Vision” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
As artificial intelligence inference transitions from cloud environments to edge locations, computer vision applications achieve heightened responsiveness, reliability and privacy. This migration, however, introduces the challenge of operating within the stringent confines of resource constraints typical at the edge, including small form factors, low energy budgets and diminished memory and computational capacities. Axelera AI addresses these challenges through an innovative approach of performing digital computations within memory itself. This technique facilitates the realization of high-performance, energy-efficient and cost-effective computer vision capabilities at the thin and thick edge, extending the frontier of what is achievable with current technologies.
In this presentation, Verhoef unveils his company’s pioneering chip technology and demonstrates its capacity to deliver exceptional frames-per-second performance across a range of standard computer vision networks typical of applications in security, surveillance and the industrial sector. This shows that advanced computer vision can be accessible and efficient, even at the very edge of our technological ecosystem.
Digital Banking in the Cloud: How Citizens Bank Unlocked Their MainframePrecisely
Inconsistent user experience and siloed data, high costs, and changing customer expectations – Citizens Bank was experiencing these challenges while it was attempting to deliver a superior digital banking experience for its clients. Its core banking applications run on the mainframe and Citizens was using legacy utilities to get the critical mainframe data to feed customer-facing channels, like call centers, web, and mobile. Ultimately, this led to higher operating costs (MIPS), delayed response times, and longer time to market.
Ever-changing customer expectations demand more modern digital experiences, and the bank needed to find a solution that could provide real-time data to its customer channels with low latency and operating costs. Join this session to learn how Citizens is leveraging Precisely to replicate mainframe data to its customer channels and deliver on their “modern digital bank” experiences.

How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

I generally pick up 2-3
new clients a month
from social media
(which is fun and costs
me nothing!)
4. Lauren Swann
I've picked up new clients cold on Linked-In - they've found & come to me and its also good
reinforcement of what you do for clients and your referral base in your network.
Linked-In is not really "social" media -- it
is business networking media
and far more effective for B2B
consultants. It’s other value is for job
seekers -- exec recruiters and HR staffers
are having a field day with it.
5. Martha McKittrick
I refer media requests to video sections
on my blog. I also provide downloadable
handouts that increase current client
satisfaction and attracts new ones.
7. Mitzi Dulan
Twitter, Facebook and YouTube have
definitely allowed me to grow my
brand and because of that I've
received more spokesperson
opportunities in line with my brand.
8. Constance Brown-Riggs Social media (twitter and facebook
primarily) is a great way to
motivate behavior change. Having
patients/clients participate in
#bgwed motivates them to monitor
blood glucose and feel part of a
supportive community.
9. Catherine Frederico
I was writing cell phone text alerts called
Nutrition 411 even before Twitter was born.
11. Jill Nussinow
I started teaching
classes locally on
Facebook &
Twitter for small
businesses.
And, really it's all about engagement and showing up. As a
culinary friend reminds me often, "You can't win if you don't
play the game."
13. Keri Gans
I have found social media to be
extremely helpful in the success of
branding my business. I can
constantly keep my name in the on
Twitter and Facebook.
Some followers on twitter have asked me to guest blog and be a nutrition expert for articles they
are writing. When I got my book deal for The Small Change Diet (Gallery March 2011) all the
publishers and literary agents I met with loved that I was active on Twitter & Facebook.
14. Rebecca Subbiah I do social media & blog for my blog
chow and chatter, and a few food
companies. I also have an iPhone
recipe app coming out soon.
15. Gloria Tsang
Balancing personal and company brand (HealthCastle.com) is
high on my list. So whether it's twitter handle or LinkedIn profile,
I make sure they reflect both.
16. Jennifer Westerkamp
My 6 years of experience on Facebook (being a
freshman in college when Facebook first became
available to college students) and my familiarity with
the evolution of social media allowed us to capitalize on
this Gen Y phenomenon for my new business.
17. Rebecca Scritchfield Some of my first
consulting jobs with
PR firms was due to
my experience with
social media.
My social media presence has allowed
me to build relationships (an asset)
that has helped me get speaking
engagements and spokesperson work.
