There are two types of social innovation: citizen-driven innovation that addresses challenges through public engagement, and challenge-driven innovation that tackles specific social issues. Impact investing supports social innovation through strategies like venture philanthropy, social capital investments, social impact bonds, and social business angels to fund innovations that can help achieve goals like the UN Millennium Development Goals. The presentation raises using impact investing to support new approaches and social innovations that can create meaningful change where current solutions are not fully addressing social problems.
