Despite just starting to play and feeling unconfident, the author managed to make an impressive save that turned the game around. Making that save boosted the author's confidence, allowing their team to tie the game even though they had been losing badly at first. The incident showed the author that being confident in themselves could help improve their abilities more than doubting themselves.

One day at recess a couple years back i was playing soccer with my
friends and i was picked to be goalie.SMACK!!! a powerful kick came at me from
the other
team.
In that short moment i remembered something veeeeeeeeeeeeerrry
important.I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY SOCCER!!!!!!!!!!
"these guys have been playing all year and i just started today!we can never
win.
As you can see i wasn't very confident with myself and that didn't
help much,in fact it made me worse.
Another kick came at me and i thought i would let it slip through my fingers as
the others did.
I was out of time to think, it had to be now or never so i jumped up, stretched out
my arms and was surprised to feel it stay in my hands!
When my feet hit the ground i was stunned in shock had just made the best
save imaginable that a newbie goalie could make.
After that save i felt more confident in myself that it actually made me better!
My team and me ended up going from 6-1 to 8-8 and tied the game!
At that moment the whistle blew signaling the end of recess and it was time to
go inside, i guess there wouldn't be a winner,
