The skills needed include riding the T-bar, skiing in a straight line, skiing under control, and learning how to stop using the snow plough technique. The first skill is stopping by keeping weight forward, bending the knees, and getting the skis in the shape of a pizza. The second skill is skiing in a straight line by keeping knees bent and skis straight like fries with weight in the middle.
