2. Synopsis
The film opens as we see boxing promoter
Turkish and his naive partner Tommy, sitting
nervously before an unseen man, in London.
Turkish gives a brief narration about the
circumstances, then the movie really takes off.
We then jump to Antwerp, where gangster
and compulsive gambler Frankie Four Fingers
and his buddies, dressed like rabbis, pull off a
daring robbery and nab an 86-karat diamond
(throughout the rest of the film, it's either 86-
karat or 84-karat, depending on which
character states it, or it loses value after going
through so many hands). One of Frankie's
men is the brother of ex-KGB gangster Boris
the Blade (Rade Serbedzija), aka Boris the
Bullet-Dodger, named due to his unique
ability to defy death. Boris is now in the
business of selling guns on the blackmarket,
and lures Frankie to buy a gun, in order to
steal the diamond.

3. Direction
The director, Guy Ritchie,
directed Snatch as a
crime comedy film which
poses the question:
Where is the stone? This
is a caper about a
diamond heist gone
helter-skelter, the rough
world of bare-knuckle
boxing, an unpredictable
Irish gypsy and a dog.
4. Guy Ritchie
Before the release of
Snatch, Guy Ritchie directed
his first breakthrough film
Lock Stock and Two
Smoking Barrels (1998)
which received high ratings
from film critics such as

written and directed by him.

Before the release of Snatch,
Columbia Pictures released a series of
other well known films from the 90s
such as Stuart Little (1999) , Hamlet
(1996) and Bad Boys (1995). These
films built up the reputation of
Columbia Pictures since they have
been consistently producing high
grossing films of various genres. This
varied from a Shakespeare drama to a
young audience movie to a crime
comedy. Since Bad Boys made the
most box office of 141.4 million USD,
this encouraged the company to
produce another crime comedy film.
Therefore Snatch was produced by
Columbia Pictures, resulting in a box
office of 83.6 million USD.

21. My thoughts on Snatch and agreement
with critic reviews.
Snatch was an excellent film in my opinion. The banter
between the characters never failed to create an enjoyable
sense of humor throughout the film. There were multiple
plots in the storyline which I did understand, however other
audiences may have found it challenging to understand this
and may leave them with questions which shouldn’t be asked
after watching the film.
I do also agree with the raitings from Rotten Tomatoes as well
as IMDb since the humor generated in the film was consistent.
However the only letdown was the misunderstanding of
multiple plots which some of the audience may experienced.
