Christopher Malbon created a plan to quit using tobacco by January 30, 2011. His plan involved not buying tobacco, asking others not to use it around him, and rewarding himself with chocolate for cravings ignored. He began using tobacco in high school and found it difficult to quit because most of his friends and acquaintances used tobacco socially. While his friends were both an enabling and supportive factor, his family fully supported his goal to quit. He reduced his usage over the first three weeks according to his plan and believed he was truly kicking the habit, though acknowledged he would need continued commitment and to spread his goal over longer periods to maintain his success.
