What is Slideshare?
 Slideshare is “the world’s largest community for sharing
  presentations”

 Allows users to:
     upload presentations publicly or for private groups
     download presentations on any subject
     sync audio to presentations
     share and connect with social networks
History of SlideShare
 Founded in October of 2006
 Originally intended for businesses to share slides
  among employees more easily

 Expanded to include presentations for entertainment in
  addition to the professional ones already being
  uploaded

 Brings in an estimated 58 million unique visitors a
  month
Current Slideshare Usage
 Used by many businesses to share presentations
  between coworkers
   used by the likes of NASA, the White House, United
    Nations, and Dell

 Zipcasts: a social web conferencing system developed
  by Slideshare that allows users to broadcast an
  audio/video feed over their slide show

 Students can also use Zipcasts to work on slideshow
  projects together from home

 Teachers can search for presentations to use in their
  classroom lessons
