Cannot install SlideShare Ribbon and the log file logs the message “Status of package 'Visual Studio
Tools for the Office system 3.0 Runtime Service Pack 1' after install is 'InstallFailed’ “
Check whether .Net framework 3.5 SP1 is present on your machine or not. It is one of the important pre-
requisite for the SlideShare Ribbon, without which the installation might fail. You can check for the
framework from ControlPanel > Add or Remove programs. The link to download .Net 3.5 SP1 can be
found in the Install Instructions section here (link to http://www.slideshare.net/developers/ap
ps/pptribbon) . Try installing SlideShare Ribbon again after installing .Net3.5SP1.
I’m running Windows XP SP3 – MS Office 2007 - .Net framework (Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1).
I’m receiving the following error “A required component for interacting with PowerPoint 2007 is not
available. Please verify Microsoft PowerPoint 2007.” at the end of the installation, pls advice.
“Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies” is a pre-requisite for the addin and is required to
interact with PowerPoint 2007. The Ribbon installer basically installs it if not found but it didn’t in your
specific case. However, quick solution would be to install it manually from here (link to
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=72637) and then install SlideShare Ribbon again.
I have installed the Slideshare ribbon. Though the manage own presentation, finding contacts and
group functions are working, it is not possible to open a searched and found Slideshare presentation
from others, not even when it's free to download or embed at slideshare.net. Do you have a solution
for that?
If you click to open a searched and found SlideShare presentation, then a preview window is displayed
where you can browse through the slides and decide whether you want to download the presentation

2. or not. Also, note that the download button on the preview window is sometimes disabled. It is because
either the author of the presentation has not granted the permission to download it or the format of the
presentation is not ppt, pps or pot. In your case, the preview window is not displayed because .Net
framework 3.5 SP1 is not present on your machine. Please install .Net 3.5 SP1 (link from where you can
install framework is mentioned on the installation page of the SlideShare Ribbon) and execute your
scenario again to confirm it.
How to change the demo account setting with my slideshare credentials?
After SlideShare Ribbon is installed successfully, open PowerPoint 2007 and go to SlideShare menu item.
Click on the “SlideShare Account” button under Login section, a Login screen will be displayed. Enter
your username and password and click on Save button. “SlideShare credentials updated successfully”
message will be displayed. Close the Login screen and start using the various features provided by the
SlideShare Ribbon.
I cannot login with username and password even if I can login with it directly to the SlideShare site. It
displays a message “Invalid SlideShare credentials”.
If the password has some characters like #, &, then the login is not successful. This issue is fixed in an
updated version of the SlideShare Ribbon and will be soon uploaded on the server. You should uninstall
the SlideShare Ribbon from your machine before installing this updated version.
After installing SlideShare Ribbon, existing “Add-Ins” tab is not visible but if I disable SlideShare
Ribbon, “Add-Ins” tab is visible again. However, other custom tabs continue to working correctly even
after I install SlideShare Ribbon. Please suggest.
This issue has been rectified in the updated SlideShare Ribbon that will be soon uploaded on the server.
