This reduces wait times and allows testing early in the development cycle. Benefits include increased productivity, quality, and reduced risk through decoupling of delivery schedules.

Pigler Automation used SIMIT and virtual controllers to test a hydrogen plant project with two redundant AS 417 controllers. They found initial setup of the virtual controllers to be challenging due to insufficient documentation. Testing identified performance issues with virtual controller downloads and online changes. However, the simulation framework worked well for testing and training. Lessons learned improved their ability to use SIMIT, and they continue using and providing feedback on the tool.

3) Challenges included complexities from changes in procurement sources and a lack of communication between global master data owners and cost accounting.
Post compiler software optimization for reducing energy
This document proposes a genetic optimization algorithm (GOA) to optimize software at the post-compiler level to reduce energy consumption. GOA stochastically mutates compiled code while preserving functionality to find lower energy implementations. It takes compiled code, test suites, and an energy model as inputs. GOA generates variants, tests them, and selects lower energy ones using the model. Results showed up to 42% energy savings across benchmarks with some loss of optimization accuracy for specific hardware. Future work aims to generalize GOA to more platforms and compilers.
