Acknowledgements
At the outset we would like to acknowledge the encouragement given
by all the organisations and companies that regularly repose faith in IBS
students and accept them for the long internship programme. We also
thank the company guides who give their precious time and professional
inputs for nurturing these future leaders/managers of the country. And lastly
we acknowledge the efforts put in by the IBS faculty and the students for
making the Internship Program a success.

2. SIP Awards 2010
The Award
The IBS Alumni Federation (IBSAF) Award for excellence in SIP (Summer
Internship Program) was instituted by IBSAF in 2007 for recognising the best
SIPs across all IBS campuses. The prestigious award is given in recognition of
outstanding SIPs undertaken by IBS students in a given academic year. The
award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a certificate of merit and a trophy.
This year there are 31 awardees, out of the 3000 competing students.
IBS Alumni Federation
IBSAF works to promote and disseminate the philosophy and values of IBS.
It works closely with IBS on business education and continuing education
programs, promoting knowledge sharing between IBS faculty, students and
alumni, and strengthening the ties between IBS and the corporate world.
IBSAF has a strong and growing presence of 25,000 alumni globally with
overseas chapters of IBS alumni in London, Singapore and UAE besides
chapters at 11 locations in India.
Selection Process
The selection process for the Award for excellence in SIP is pretty rigorous.
After initial short listing by the campuses, they are presented before the Final
Selection Committee comprising IBS alumni, faculty members and campus
head of respective IBS campus. The alumni are the key decision makers as
the award has been instituted by the Alumni Federation. The principle of
‘conflict of interest’ is also followed in the selection process.
SIP Differentiators at IBS
At IBS, the SIP is of 15-week duration which starts in Feb and goes on till
May. Each SIP student has two supervisors - one from the faculty and the
other from the industry. Students are encouraged to take projects that
are not only from the industry but also the social sector. The students thus
get the much needed exposure to real life. More than problem solving, the
SIP enables them to get an experience of corporate work environment,
associated stress, building relationships, importance of targets and deadlines
and time management.
