In the first two minutes of the film Silent Hill, we are introduced to the characters Rose and Christopher who are panicked and searching for Sharon, a young girl. Rose is calling Sharon's name and picking up her teddy bear, indicating Sharon is missing. The characters appear to have been asleep, as Rose wears casual clothing like a vest and shorts, while Christopher is putting on a shirt. The only prop used is Sharon's teddy bear, which provides a clue to where she went. Brief tense music plays during the opening credits and when the characters listen to rushing water, heightening the mystery of if Sharon jumped.

2. Characters
Instantly, the characters are brought into the opening of
the film through the dialogue. The first character, Rose
begins screaming out ‘Sharon’ with her tensed facial
expressions. This gives the impression that she is
searching for someone as she repeatedly calls out the
name. We are unfamiliar with what role she plays, until we
meet Christopher two second afterwards. They were both
running around the house which emphasises that they are
panicking and frightened.
We then see Rose tracing clues to where ‘Sharon’ must
have gone as she picks up a teddy bear along the way. This
suggests that ‘Sharon’ must be a little girl, who has gone
missing.
Due to this, we already have an idea about the role of the
characters within the first two minutes of the opening.

3. Costumes
Costumes
During the first two minutes of the film, we
see that Sharon is wearing blue pyjamas
and Rose is seen wearing a vest top and
shorts , comfortable clothing as it may
mean they wear asleep until finding out the
Sharon had gone missing.
During the first two minutes of the film, we
assume that the characters are wearing
comfortable clothing (nightwear), and were
asleep. This is because, Rose is wearing a
vest top and shorts while Christopher was
putting on his top. Soon, Sharon is also
seen wearing pyjamas which means she has
gone out of bed.

Not many props were
used in the beginning of
the clip apart from
one, Sharon’s teddy was
used as a trail to where
she was heading.
Music was not used very much in the first two
minutes of the clip, apart from during the
Music beginning during the credits we hear a chilling
music played by a stringed instrument. Later
on the clip. The music brings tension during the
part where all we hear is the gashing water
from the water fall which makes everybody
think did Sharon jump?
