14. An Introduction to
Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and
Eco-tourism (IHCAE), Chemchey, Sikkim.
Located on a hill top on Chemchey
Village, South Sikkim at the altitude of
6582 ft. covering the area of 21.2 acres.
The institute is the first of its kind in the
entire North East region.
The institute was formally inaugurated
on the 7th of December 2009.
IHCAE is designed to introduce and
educate young people & school children
to the exciting, unexplored possibilities of
Nature.
It also seeks to encourage the youth of
the Nation to take up adventure sports as
a profession.
IHCAE provides high standard
adventure related training courses while
emphazing on instilling the concept of
adventure tourism without causing any
environmental degradation.

• The Administrative Block “Thalay Sagar”
houses the offices of Principal, Vice Principal,
Registrar, Accounts, Training Wing, Chief
Instructor and Instructor’s room.
• HOSTEL-“Mt. Jhonsang” hostel can
comfortably accommodate 60 participants
at any given time. The rooms are clean,
well furnished, ventilated, and comfortable
bathrooms and toilets
• IHCAE campus has a well established state of
the art training area enabling a superior training
experience to all its trainees.
