MacPherson Town Day
The Sights & Sounds Of A
Community Carnival
Story by Michael Yap

It was a glorious Sunday, 12 Jul 2009 where 2,000 residents came to
join in the carnival atmosphere of MacPherson Town Day held at the
MacPherson Community Club. While performances such as Indian Cultural
Dance, Hip Hop Skipping and Children Teochew Opera were happening
at the Multi-purpose Hall, hundreds of residents thronged the basketball
court area which has been transformed into the Exhibition and Games
stations area for the Town Day. Agencies which participated in the
carnival include AVA, NEA, SCDF, Marine Parade Town Council and LTA.
Guest of Honour Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Mayor South SM Goh briefed by the LTA

Harbinger of Good News!
The LTA team was all prepared as early as 6.30 am in anticipation of the tight security
sweep that was carried out for the event. The exhibition panels provided information
on Circle Line MacPherson Station and Land Transport Gallery. The team gave away
about 1,000 copies of flyers on MacPherson Station, 500 copies each of LTA CONNECT
newsletters and Circle Line commemorative publication.

Overall, the team had accomplished the mission to promote the Land Transport
Gallery to residents as a good educational tour venue for families and to herald
the good news that MacPherson Station will be opening next year and it will be an
interchange station with future Downtown Line 3.

All residents are looking forward to greater commuting convenience with the opening
of the MacPherson Station. The Circle Line is definitely worth the wait!
