Lentini is located between Catania and Syracuse in eastern Sicily. It was founded in 729 BC by Greek settlers and has since been ruled by Romans, Arabs, and Normans. Important archaeological sites from these civilizations can be found in the town. One of the most prominent buildings is the Baroque church dedicated to the town's patron saints Saint Alfio, Filadelfo, and Cirino. During the celebration of the saints on May 10th, men and women traditionally walk barefoot around the historic center. The town is also home to the protected Biviere lake that is habitat to local wildlife.
