The life cycle of a chicken begins as an egg. Inside the egg, a chick develops over a period of 21 days, with its beak and wings forming in the first week and bones and feathers developing later. Near the end of the cycle, the chick's beak breaks through the egg shell to hatch. Once hatched, the chick grows into an adult chicken which can then lay eggs and continue the cycle.
