Most supermarket eggs come from hen-only farms. 3) Inside the egg, development proceeds with the blastoderm developing and allantois beginning to fuse with the chorion by day 6, and ribs appearing by day 13.

2. Life Cycle of a Chicken Mission #1 Reproduction: The Formation of an Egg The Yolk: The chicken egg starts as an egg yolk inside a hen. A yolk is produced by the hen’s ovary in a process called ovalution. The Egg White : The yolk continues down the oviduct ( whether or no it is fertilized ) and is covered with membrane ( called the vitaline membrane ) , structural fibres, and layers of albumin ( the egg white). This part of the oviduct is called magnus.

4. Hatching Eggs Mission #2 The rooster must be present for an egg to be fertilized. Most eggs that you buy at the supermarket are from hens that are raised without a rooster being present. Roosters are not necessary at egg farms where eggs are produced for consumption. Eggs for inculation are grown at special farms called breeder farms where roosters are present with the hens.
