The Battle of Shiloh, also known as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing, was fought April 6-7, 1862 in Tennessee between the United States and Confederate States. It was one of the bloodiest battles of the American Civil War so far, with over 23,000 casualties between the two sides. In the end, the United States forces led by Ulysses S. Grant and Don Carlos Buell defeated the Confederate forces led by Albert Sidney Johnston and P.G.T. Beauregard.
